Usually M&M miles expire at end of the quarter 3 years after they were earned. Unless you are a elite or hold a M&M branded CC. Additionally the M&M Barclaycard requires a monthly acitivity on the card for the miles to stay valid. In Germany just having the card is enough.

Just to throw in some oddities about these cards. About 3 years ago I applied for Lufthansa card and got the platinum with only 5k bonus. Was disappointed at first, but this card ended up having no foreign transaction fees and kept miles alive by just having card, no spend required and no annual fee. This is in contrast to what is written in the T&C booklet. So I've held on to it.

Yep. If you don't spend money every month on the card, the miles will expire according to M&M standard expiration policy: 36 months after they are earned.
If you do spend money on the card EVERY month, you will pay 3 or 4 annual fees for miles which may or may not be worth anything by then, and you will have been better off ignoring this offer.

I was on the fence but leaning towards doing this. However, I just got on the latest AMEX deal and will not do this now since spending $10K (AMEX + M&M) in 3 months is a little too much and that much manufactured spending is above my comfort level.
Sorry Barclays, AMEX beat you this time but I will come back to your well again for more miles in the future.

For those who don't get immediate approval . . . Barclay's took a full ten days to review my application, but just approved me for $10K on the Premier M&M MC.
