FlexPerks airfare rewards refund

I bought a plane ticket on US Air with my FlexPerks for a trip with my girlfriend.:(

She is in the process of ditching me so I won't be going on this trip.

Is there anyway I can get credit/refund for the ticket or FlexPerks points?

thanks.

If you get a reward it will go back to flex, and deposited in your account...

Next time book with South West...

Count yourself lucky your were not married, would have lost a lot more..

You asked a similar question in October, what was the outcome on that transaction?

I don't believe so - IMO:
Flexperks points will not be refunded - normal airline rules apply to any ticket changes.

All FlexPoints redemptions are final. FlexPoints are not transferable, are not redeemable for cash and cannot be used as payment for obligations owed to U.S. Bank or its affiliates. There are no refunds, exchanges, replacements or conversions for currency, credit, other points or rewards for no-shows or unused portions or rewards.

I wonder if it would make a difference if I contacted US Air instead of FlexPerks.

Sure, but be prepared for this: normal airline rules apply to any ticket changes.

I guess the best advise is to surprise a new girlfriend ;)

Does that mean for $150 I could change the ticket? That would be better than losing it completely.

mia Mar 26, 2013 9:50 am

I am not a US Airways flyer, but I don't think they will permit a passenger name change.

Tickets are not transferable and must be used by the passenger whose name appears on the original ticket.

Yes ... per person:

Depending on fare rules, a change fee applies to all non-refundable tickets. Any flights canceled on or before the scheduled date of travel will retain ticket value and can be credited against the price of another ticket.

Here are the rules:
If a reservation is canceled on/before the ticketed departure date, the value of the ticket may be applied toward future travel up to one year from the original issue date. Travel on the new ticket must be completed within one year of the original date of issue.
If any part of the ticket is unused after the ticketed departure date and the reservation has not been canceled, the ticket has no value.
Once the value of a non-refundable ticket has been applied towards the purchase of a new ticket, the original ticket is considered valueless.
Any difference in fare, if greater, must be collected. No refund is given for a decrease in fare (no residual value) and residual amount cannot be applied to the change fee. All non-refundable values remain non-refundable.
Be prepared to loose your flexpoints tho - they're non-refundable.
The value of the ticket - minus the $150 p/p change fee - will be all that's left.

iowa guy Mar 26, 2013 9:56 am

I didn't mean change the name on my ticket. I meant to say 'could I change the itinerary on the ticket so I could travel to a different location at a different time?'.

Travelomania Mar 26, 2013 10:04 am

What you also could do is risk it and wait till the last moment to monitor for any schedule changes.
IF there's a valid schedule change that will generally apply - i.e. a connection time change to < 50 minutes - you'll be able to argue your way to a valid cancellation and receive a full refund.
You may also be "creative" with other reasons if any change to your ticket occurs.
However, again no Flexpoints refund I'm afraid.

Travelomania, just read your reply...

Does that mean I must have my new itinerary decided upon when I call US AIR to cancel my ticket or will they "bank" the value of the ticket for a later date?

Yes ... but the $150 change fee will be applied.
But as you discovered already, that's better than nothing at all @:-)

No instant decision necessary and exactly as you assumed, they'll "bank" the rest value for use at a later date.
