Let's crowd source things that have counted towards travel redemptions that are not so obvious
Successful
Successful - Plus Only
Unsuccessful (please mention the amount redeemed - important as anything under $25 cannot be reimbursed)
Don't forget travel purchase needs to be > $25 charge for 2,500 mile redemption
Partial redemptions are possible - however you cannot redeem against that charge again. So if you have a $500 charge and you spend 40K points against it, you cannot redeem 10K points for the remaining $100 of that charge.

I wondered the same thing even after I had mine in my wallet. But three months later - I like the card. I have used it for taxi's, car service, wifi on airplanes, and drinks at a hotel bar (where I wasn't staying). Got all that money back from Barclays.

What do you think about me applying for this card right now? In Dec? I know I should wait 5-6 mo from Sep, but I am feeling impatient after cooling my jets since Sept! :-)
Here's my inquiry history (all cards still open); I probably am at about 750 or so:
- 3/13 USAir approved [my 1st toe-dip into this world of bonus cards]
- 6/13-9/13 8 Citi, Chase, & Amex approved
- 9/13 USAir approved

My FICO was 805 before my last app-o-rama three months ago. Six new credit cards later, they show it at 819. Don't understand but not complaining.

Cardmembers can view their score online as often as they like, but to be clear, cardmembers aren’t pulling their own score. We receive a new score from Transunion, at a minimum, every 60 days. So, when the cardmembers log-in what they are seeing is the latest score we have on file. However, score updates could happen more frequently, depending upon certain changes to the cardmembers credit report; like applying for new credit or refinancing a mortgage. Cardmembers will then receive an email alert notifying them that their score has changed.

Note, per a statement made to Gary Leff, that this isn't a real-time FICO query:

Just applied this morning, even though I was scared I would be downgraded to the Plat. Thankfully, not the case! Instant approval with a 7500 credit line. This is my very first miles card so pretty excited. Thanks all for the tips in this thread. Made my decision easier.

Looks like there is a new, worse offer on the main page. You can still find the old offer if you poke arround, better hop on it if you want it!
Earn 30,000 bonus miles if you make $5,000 or more in
purchases the first 180 days of account opening. Earn an
additional 20,000 bonus miles if you make $20,000 or
more in purchases in the first 365 days of account opening.
50,000 bonus miles equates to $500 off your next travel
reward trip2

Any hints/tips on when to apply for this card?
Data points - 4-5 card AoR in June or July, of which US Airways card was one. Prior to that hadn't gotten any new cards in 9-12 months.
Sock drawered US Airways card after $100 spend for bonus, and was hoping for 3 month spend bonus, but never did get the offer. This is only Barclays card.
Thoughts?

Just applied today along with two other applications at other banks. Have 6-7 applications in the last 12 months with none in the last 100 days. Applied for a USAir card in June 2012, cancelled in February 2013, applied and received another one in May.
Got the application under review page. Gave them a call. After a short call with the analyst, no dice. She asked me to explain previous cards and especially why I had closed USAir card and applied again. My FICO score on their site is 766. She commended me on the responsible use of my cards, but didn't seem even close to approving it. I was really hoping to get this card to offset a one month car rental next year.
I had put 3K spending on the USAir card in the last two months to prepare for this app.
Any use to call again? I probably should have offered to move credit line, but doubt it would have done anything.
