Let's crowd source things that have counted towards travel redemptions that are not so obvious
Successful
Successful - Plus Only
Unsuccessful (please mention the amount redeemed - important as anything under $25 cannot be reimbursed)
Don't forget travel purchase needs to be > $25 charge for 2,500 mile redemption
Partial redemptions are possible - however you cannot redeem against that charge again. So if you have a $500 charge and you spend 40K points against it, you cannot redeem 10K points for the remaining $100 of that charge.

@ romsdeals I was actually able to get 2 Barclay's cards within 4 months. It's a very unusual bank, no pattern IMO But I guess better safe, than sorry. The problem is, you risk the bonus being reduced, if you wait.

FYI. My app kept generating the "We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues" error in 2 different browsers. I called and they said they could only take an application over the phone for a 20k points offer. I declined. I eventually realized that I had a comma in the number in the income field and when I removed it the app went through fine.

My wife applied two weeks ago and received a 'pending' status. Received a snail mail asking her to call. Phone call to Barclay's took two minutes and after answering basic questions (that were all answered on the app), she was approved.

I have been trying to apply using the link in the 1st post for 2 days and no luck getting it to go through. When I hit submit the processing application pop up appears for about 1 second then it goes back to the application. It is as if there are errors on the application but everything is filled in.
I tried the check application status and it says no record of the application.
Hopefully I have not applied about 8 times over 2 days.
Has anyone else had this issue?

They grilled my wife. Sounded more like a witch hunt. Glad my wife kept her cool.

My wife got the "pending further review" on her app for arrival card also. Finally got acceptance email after 15 days. With Barclays, we've never had any luck with recon so choose to wait it out. As a data point, my wife and I both applied for this card six months after receiving our respective u.s.airways cards. Very similar credit profiles. She was approved. I was denied. Only difference was she used her U.S air card for 3 month spend promotion and mine was never used after receiving bonus. Apparently very important to USE EXISTING BARCLAYS CARD IF YOU HOPE TO GET ANOTHER.

I checked the online status link and it looks like I have been denied..
I will be calling tomorrow morning..
I have US Air since Feb. and my husband has it too.
I also have 2 other Barclay cards.. Choice Privileges and Princess.
Any strategy for getting this card?

Wife applied 8/27, received denial letter 9/2. Our online status said we were denied within hours of applying. Called reconsideration line today (a whole 9 days later) and received approval, albeit with a paltry credit line.
The only number in the denial letter is the same one mentioned earlier: 866-408-4064. Hours are 8 AM through 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Does anybody remember when the bonus 40K points post ? Right after you meet the spending or after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet the spending requirement ? Thanks.
