Credit Card Receipt Sharing

Is there a law or contract term that prevents a merchant from sharing a receipt or credit card receipt with a third party?

I had a merchant share an AmEx credit card receipt to third party (not AmEx, the bank, me or the merchant). I feel this is not right. Can you help point me to the law that would protect me?

Never heard of such a law. Unless the retailer's privacy policy explicitly says otherwise, your purchase records, which would include receipts, belong to them and they can sell them to a data company, for example, or whatever they want. In some cases, you may have the right to "opt out" of such sharing.

Would the third party be your employer and the Amex a corporate card?

I am editing this post because Ticketzoom has contacted me to remedy the situation, and I am happy with the solution.

Well, there are FTC, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, your state Attorney General, their states Attorney Generals, the Better Business Bureau, the National Do Not Call Registry and god knows how many other organizations you could contact to complain about those squandrels. Don't let them get away with this. They would at least have to respond with some massive paperwork they could live without.
