This is exactly my thinking. I can make up for the hit and then some in so many ways.

Well, you could move to one of the handful of states which do not permit insurers to consider one's credit history. ;)

Yes. One day. But owning homes in two states makes it that much harder. First world problem, I know. But I do work hard for what I’ve got.

That’s exactly what I’m telling myself. But $800 increase is hard to stomach.

There is also something to be said for shopping around insurance periodically...

I couldn’t agree more. When I moved to Progressive a few years back, my premium went down by almost 40%. I did get two other quotes this past week and they were within $600of current, and the coverage wasn’t as good. It’s a huge pain to change over all our cars and house and umbrella (which we would want to do to get the bundle discount). It’s not worth it for me right now. But yes re shopping around!

I have one cc (opened in 2015) that I am happy to close that is on my Transunion report. This would take me down to 9 open accounts. The Progressive docs say that I’m at 10-19 accounts with optimal being 1. Currently I’m at 10. So two questions:

1. How long would it take for that cc to be listed as closed in my Transunion report?
2. Any sense if this would affect CBIS?

I’m thinking it’s worth doing in any case, but my premium is due in a few weeks so would want to make sure when Progressive reruns it the cc is showing as closed.

Well this is supremely annoying. Homeowners went up 27% from last year bc my transunion score of 835 put me at a tier 8 (instead of tier 4, which is what it was last time). I've actually slowed down my churning. I have 10 accounts showing ranging in age of 2-35 years. 1 inquiry in the last 3 years. I'm so frustrated. Progressive said they would re-run the credit check but I'm not optimistic anything will have changed in 2 months. Might even be worse, though I don't know why it would be. Good grief.

In what state is the home?

Allstate says only three states disallow this, CA, HI, and MA.
