Downgrading HSBC Premier World Mastercard

I'm an HSBC Premier customer who has the Premier World MC. HSBC dropped online savings account rate from .8% to .5%, and I no longer wish to have 100K+ at HSBC. If I drop below 100K and choose to drop from Premier to non-Premier, I understand that I'll lose my Premier MC.

I want to keep my line of credit open and get some other HSBC credit card so it doesn't hurt my credit score, but I've been given the run-around about it. What, if any, rights do I have at this point?

You can try the Exec Line @ HSBC if not already 866-280-0118

Beware, HSBC sold their credit card business to Capital One. Not the premium cards like the Premier World, but most everything else. So if you downgrade, make sure it is not to one that will really be a Capital One card.

I am also HSBC Premier with a Premier World MC. The way I understand it is that if your qualifying HSBC balance goes below $100K, you will be assessed $50 per month to keep Premier status including the MC. If you do not want to pay to keep Premier status, the Premier MC will go away. Since they have sold their card business with the exception of Premier, there is probably not a downgrade option. That said, you need to call your HSBC Personal Banker to get a definitive answer

HSBC USA site shows three card levels:

...but I think 1500forGLD's question is if HSBC is required to convert the card to another version. I cannot that any card issuer would be obligated to convert any card for any customer.

HSBC, NA still issues a cashback card and a non-cash back card (both with zero FETF BTW) in addition to the Premier Mastercard. From the conversations I've had recently with HSBC bankers, they are about to start a major push to market these cards. I would think the OP could easily downgrade to one of them if he or she wanted to.

Bump old thread because I wonder if by downgrading, do I still have access to my points. I don’t want hsbc to be the ones to tell me no, before I speak with them.
