As an additional resource for these cards see this thread: Alaska Airlines Visa

PERSONAL CARDS
30k mile offer, $75 AF, $1k spend: https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit...s-credit-card/
+2k miles if done with onboard paper application

30k mile offer with $100 credit and fee for companion ticket waived the first year, $75 AF, $1k spend: https://secure.bankofamerica.com/app...aignid=4020594
link no longer working

30k mile offer with $100 credit, $75 AF, $1k spend: https://secure.bankofamerica.com/app...aignid=4009277

If you are applying for a personal Alaska card, and are not an expert on applying for Alaska cards STOP, don't apply yet.
Instead, read this post. Doing that first may save you a huge amount of wasted time and frustration.

A few people in the Alaska Airlines forum have in the past received personally targeted, single-use links for a 50k offer
when they opt-in to "Partner Offers" in their Mileage Plan account preferences.

=======================================

BUSINESS CARDS

30k mile offer, $75 AF, $1k spend, no foreign transaction fees:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/smallb...-credit-card//

Note: There are two different earning formats for the business card, which you choose when you apply:
  • $50 per company, $25 per card (Business Level Earning Plan)
    • $0 per company, $75 per card (Individual Level Earning Plan)

To avoid billing confusion later, make sure you choose the Individual Level Earning Plan if you are not going to have employee cards under the same account as your account.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reconsideration # (for personal cards):

1-800-354-0401 (8am-7pm ET Mon-Fri) direct, referring agent from another BofA line called it their "credit department"

1-866-811-4108 from the Alaska Airlines Visa thread post 949

Business card Recon Line:
866-695-6598 (8-7 EST M-F from what I was told)

Biz card status line: 888 663 6262
Biz Card credit analyst line: 877 665 5022, 877 665 5023 (seems to be non-working number)

Check application status online here:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit...status-form.go

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credit Enquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Enquiries for business cards come from FIA. Credit bureaus usually merge enquiries from the same requester made on the same day. Enquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Once you are auto approved can it be taken back? Auto approved for personal and business, then a few hours later the Merrill plus(this went pending). When I checked the status site the first day it had my as personal as approved, Merrill as pending. The next day I checked and it showed pending for both. Today when I check it errors out and says nothing found.

Got approved for Alaska Plat. This is my 1st BofA card. Used 2nd card trick but wasn't approved/upgraded for signature due to high number of inquiries. Don't want Plat listed on my reports. Does cancelling today itself might save me?

No. If it's been approved, if you cancel, it'll show on your credit report as a card you cancelled.

Meanwhile, I'm confused, your 1st, or your 2nd card? How can you possibly use a 2nd card trick (whatever that means) on your 1st card???

In case you mean with another bank, that's a dead trick. Inquiries used to appear the next day years ago, but they days they are instant. So there is no trick any more to make inquiries invisible by applying for multiple cards on the same day. In fact, it just makes your inquiries look worse.

BofA has a habit of giving you big CLs on cards, which then maxes you out quickly if you apply for too many at a time. (And very few people any more apply for 3 BofA cards at a time.)

Btw, BofA CL on cancelled cards takes as long as a year to be available for new cards. So the very last thing you want to is cancel these cards (too soon), because the CL would be "stuck". Accept the cards you were approved for, lower the credit limits as much as you can as soon as you can, and then a couple months you may have more success applying for different BofA card. Only some time (preferably months) after lowering the CL to minimal should you consider cancelling these AS cards (if you have no further use for them).

Here is what I mean-
'the way to get a Sig card, if you are instantly approved for a lessor card, is to just reapply the same day. Most likely that app will go to pending, or be denied as a mistaken "duplicate app". Then you can call Recon, and get them to reopen the app, give you a Sig for your second app, and cancel the first one. All apps on the same day get combined, so your second, or third if necessary, will only register as one HP with the CB. '

I cancelled mine right away. Pointless to keep it.

I kept it- thought sooner or later I need to have some sort of relationship with BofA so lets start with this one. I'll probably just buy 2 Vanilla GCs be done with it

Got a mail from BoA for my Alaska "business" card requesting business account documentation. "Please send us a copy of the organizing document for the business and evidence that the document has been properly filed with the appropriate U.S authorities." By Jan 4 or they may close my account

What do I do? Ignore? Should I hit min spend on the card now to get the miles?

Is it okay if I call them and say I don't need an EIN since it's a sole proprietorship? And then no schedule C yet since business is too new?

Or should I just apply for an EIN, or will that open up tax complications for me

You can get a business license from your state for pretty cheaply. In CO it's a certificate to collect state sales tax. I have one for my legit business, but you can get one for a sole prop too.

Well, that's not the only way to got a Sig card (if approved for a Plat) card, and as you can see it doesn't always work (depending on why you were only approved for a Plat card).

In my case, I was able to call in, move credit around from other cards, and after getting the CL raised to $5k start a two-month process for getting upgraded to Sig.

But if it's your first card, and they wouldn't even give you $5k, I'm not sure what you can do. But IMHO you should still call them and ask if there's any way they can give you $5k (or more) CL, and then start the Plat->Sig upgrade process.

How did you fill out your business card application? Did you put your name as the business name, or a separate business name? Did you list years in business as 0, or something else?

I don't see how a business which has your name as the business name and is a sole proprietorship can have an "organizing document".

I filled it out as "[Initials] Rentals", since my friend pays me $300/month for rent, but nothing formal. Years in business 0, income 0.

I was planning on calling them later this week to explain it's a sole proprietorship and too early in business for a Schedule C and see how that goes.

You use your legal name for a sole prop. That could be the sticking point.

Question: I currently have 2 personal Signature cards. I would like to keep churning for the bonus miles. Should I close my oldest personal card before I apply for a new one (of course, 90+ days after my last card was opened)? Or should I close both and then open a new one?

Yeah tried that as well. No go. Any idea- if I ask for product change any other card from BofA like BOA Cash Rewards card & they might allow it? If Signature card is getting sign up bonus on PC, there system might end up giving me sign up bonus for alternate card.
Thanks for the help though.
