What does this have to do with a credit card?

I believe that Southwest promotion (500 points for giving your email address) was for Dish Network, not DirecTV.

Sorry if this is incorrect place for this thread.
So on 8/4/13, I got a hard inquiry from DirectTV. I don't remember signing up for DirectTV. Though there was one promotion to sign up for emails to receive Southwest sometimes last month? Anybody else got a hit from DirectTV? Can I dispute this? Thanks. Just happened last week with me and t-mobile (someone tried to fraudulently open an account under my name) and they will be removing the hard pull from my report and fortunately suspended the account before I had a chance to call because they thought it was suspicious. |
sorry I thought the DirecTV was the promo with the Southwest, but it was Dish.
And thanks for the advice. I will give them a call. Mod can close & delete this thread to clear up this Credit Card section. |
How many pulls do I have? Will they be merged on same date?

Am I right or not? or Will all pulls on the same date be merged in 1 pull? I am confused because I have some pulls on the same date which is on 02/10/13 and 07/14/13. If pulls on the same date, will it be merged? For example on 02/10/13, so I have 1 pull on 02/10/13 for TransUnion, and 1 pull on 02/10/13 for Experian? Am I right or not? |

No. I understand that for credit score purposes, yes on mortgage/auto. INQs are not actually merged on the credit report however. INQs have coding, and they can tell what INQ is what. You can ask Chase to remove...but I doubt they will. |

Am I right or not? or Just pull your reports and look and count them. That's the only way you know for sure. The two Chase on 2/10 might have resulted in two or one as sometimes one of them will be dropped as a possible duplicate. Will all pulls on the same date be merged in 1 pull? Nope. As the poster above refers to, it sounds like you are confusing how FICO treats credit card pulls vs. mortgage pulls. They are coded different. The idea of credit card hard inq is to record each time you seek credit card credit. Sometimes the bureaus will drop one because they may be considered duplicates. I am confused Yup because I have some pulls on the same date which is on 02/10/13 and 07/14/13. If pulls on the same date, will it be merged? If they look identical, same bank, same address, then maybe as possible duplicates. For example on 02/10/13, so I have 1 pull on 02/10/13 for TransUnion, and 1 pull on 02/10/13 for Experian? Am I right or not? Not right. Just pull your reports and you will see. |

The merging simply occurs when the bureau can't be sure whether your two pulls on the same day are accidental duplicates. That's why it only happens if the two apps you did are "very similar", to the point where the bureau can't tell them apart. None of the cards you applied for on those two days look "similar enough" to be possibly mistaken for a duplicate, given that the only cases you had of same bank pulling on the same day were Chase, but you were mixing completely different cards (one personal and one business) on the same day. |
