Help with upcoming applications

So I just purchased a house in January. Shortly before closing our mortgage company was purchased by another mortgage company and we had to redo our application, which was fun!

Credit Karma shows 5 hard pulls in the last 12 months. Which I believe just tracks Transunion, but I could be wrong. So I only know what all else was checked. It had only 2 pulls before I went through the whole house buying process.

Last summer I did:
Citi-Visa AA 75k Personal (June)
Citi-Visa AA 75k Business (June)
BofA -VISA AS 40k Personal (July)

And nothing between that a buying the house.

I would like to apply for the SPG 25k Bonus, and do a Capital One if the match my miles appears again as I missed out last time. The 5K in 6months isnt too big of an issue (paying for a wedding right now, so lots of chargeable expenses coming up that I can pay off almost immediately).

My question is, do I risk a big chance of denial do to the number of hard pulls from buying the house. I assume the 25k SPG Bonus will be around so shoudl I just wait for the Cap1 and see what happens?

I think you'll find many people with considerably more than 5 hard inq's on these boards. Assuming your credit is in decent shape, I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility to get both (or more). Your mortgage probably only contributed 1 or 2 of the pulls, but it would probably make sense to apply for both cards on the same day.

I agree, 5 hard pulls in 12 months is not much. You should definitely be ok if all your other credit stuff is in order. Personally, I have many more pulls than that in the last 12 months and have always been fine.

I agree... 5 pulls isnt much. You should see peoples credit when they go car shopping. Multiple dealerships pulling 5-8 lenders each

5 hard hits should be no problem

If you aren't in a rush to get the SPG card, I would wait and do both apps on the same day. Especially, since Cap 1 will most likely pull all 3 credit bureaus.

What's Credit Karma showing your score as?

I'm not sure this will matter since I doubt Cap 1 will care if there are 5 or 6 inqs (even if one is w/in the last month). If there was a plan to do many many apps, then that would be a different scenario.

Since my spending is spread over multiple cards this past year (14K was max on one card, 6k max on any other card) I didnt do the capital one. I did however jump on a SPG card (25k offer) and got instantly approved. I was in a rush to get it since some deposits for my wedding are due in the next 2 weeks and would like to use that towards my 5K spending requirement.

Here is my question. My credit Karma shows 730. Its been as high as 740, for really no reason, and was 713 when I started tracking it last May when I began the credit card bonus game, but I havent done too many applications.

However, my credit Karma does not show my home mortgage yet. We closed on Jan 11th, 2012. Should this information be up there by now? We paid Jan interest at closing so first payment was paid on March 1st.

I will likely wait for some 50k point bonuses to return and apply for 4-5 cards after I hit my 5K spending on the SPG and Close the Citi Personal card and BofA Visa since I dont use either of those 2. My Citi Business I use to track my small business spending for my side work.

Here are the cards I have:

Target store Card
Amex Blue Sky (first card, had since 06)
Amex Delta Platinum (Baggage fee waivers each year justify annual fee)
Citi AA Personal Visa
Citi AA Business Visa
BofA AS Visa Signature
Amex SPG

the BofA AS card hasnt had anything charged to it and I have exhausted the miles bonus I recieved. The Citi AA personal hasnt had anything charged to it in awhile either. I would like to keep either personal or business card, and would prefer to keep the business so I can track spending for it. Plus I need a visa for places that dont take AMEX.

Any harm in closing these 2 cards and keeping the others open? I plan to downgrade my Delta Platinum card as soon as I get the free companion cert. and the annual fee posts as well, but that shouldnt effect anything.

Thoughts?
