How to meet minimum spend?
For some silly reason I totally forgot about my new CC and the minimum spend requirement ( i know it is criminal !). I did not see the points posted and inquired and was informed I have only 12 days remaining to spend over $8000. What is the best way to do that. I do not have any expenses amounting to that, what could i use my CC for to accomplish my minimum spend ? Thanks.

No. It is the Citi Premier Thank YOu card.

Are there any expenses that you could buy gift cards for like groceries, gas, etc. use the card to buy the gift cards and then pay for your expenses with those cards

If you can handle floating the cash for a few months, Kiva.org would be another way to meet the spend and help others too.

You can probably knock out $4k through Amazon payments if you have a significant other but it's definitely YMMV.
You can use ChargeSmart to pay your mortgage. Just pay your mortgage for a few months and you should knock it out. Even if you don't have the cash to pay it off, the interest won't be thaaaat much. Definitely worth it if the sign up bonuses is decent. |

I know it depends on the lender, but it appears it could be very pricey, which would negate quite a few of the bonus points. Am I wrong? |

ChargeSmart seems pretty pricey, correct?

Call your cable and phone company (and anyone else you can pay with a credit card) and make a one-time payment of as much as you can. If your cell bill is $150 a month, pay them (say) $1800 and then you won't have to pay your cell bill for a year.

Thanks everyone
Thank you for all your ideas and suggestions. I had not heard about Chargesmart.com, Kiva.org ever before. I used these for future payments and helped me immensely. You are right about Chargesmart being expensive. However with such a steep spend requirement I wanted to make sure I met it. My bonus is 100000 points for the spend in 3 months. It is well worth it. I also learnt about Amazon Payments during my idea look up endeavor. It helps with another $1000 spend, though it is recommended it should be the last resort.
Thanks everyone for pooling together to help me out. This is a great website because of people like you. |
Overpay some of your bills, like utilities and insurance. You can do it in a few minutes, online. At least some of them will write you a check for the difference (your "overpay") after a billing cycle or so. For the rest, I guess you'll just be "paid up" for a while.
And of course, gift cards and returnable objects. |

How can you overpay a credit card account with another credit card?? If that was possible then just overpay the one that needs the minimum spend.

You're right - can't overpay a credit card with a credit card. I'll correct it; thanks.
