Applying for multiple CCs in one day?

In the Citi AA thread there have been people talking about applying for the Visa & AMEX separately, and getting double the rewards (if they're approved for both). Also, somewhere in that thread, they said one should only apply for 2 Citi cards in one day (someone tried for 3 and was denied). My question is, what is the best way to maximize mileage here? The cards in consideration are:

Chase Sapphire Preferred (50k points)
Citi AA Amex (50k miles)
Citi AA Visa/MC (50k miles)
Citi ThankYou Premier (50k points)

Also, I have:

Chase BA Visa (received May 2011, 100k bonus)
Chase Continental (received July 2011, 50k bonus)
Citi Diamond Preferred (received May 2011...no miles received)

My husband is listed as an authorized user on all of these accounts, but I was the one who applied for them. I assume that he can apply for Chase & Citi and be a new user. I think I'd be able to apply for Citi, but I'm not sure about Chase. What do the FT experts think?

I've recently applied for most of the cards you've mentioned. I believe Citi only allows 2 cards to be apply within 1 or 2 months. I think it's 2. So you should have no problem getting 2 Citi cards.

I've also recently applied for 3 Chase cards and gotten all 3 approved within span of a week.

So that's total of 5 cards in span of about 10 days. all approved (some I did have to call reconsideration line).

This subject has been covered on numerous threads here recently. Please review, or search, the posts/threads over the last week. Thanks & welcome to FT.

Being an AU does not disqualify someone from getting his own card.

A good thread to check out

I had done a search using a few key terms, and hadn't found anything. But after browsing through several pages, I found this thread that others might find helpful.

I still haven't found though the effects of applying for multiple cards from different companies, though. Since the search is the same day, do they not know about each other and therefore are more likely to accept? Or do they see that you're looking for multiple cards and then make it less likely to accept?

Yes, they know about each other. Yes to your last question. Everyone's situation is a little different of course. What I can accomplish you may not be able to--and vice versa. Experiment & let us know the results. The more data points the better.
