[Targeted] MileagePlus Explorer 60,000 miles

Hi all,

New to FT here. Got this offer in email from MileagePlus. Seems like a targeted offer.

Enjoy these great benefits and more.
+ 50,000 bonus award miles after your first use of the Card2
+ 10,000 bonus award miles when you spend $25,000 on your card in a calendar year3
+ First checked bag free on United- and Continental-operated flights (a savings of up to $100 per roundtrip)4
+ Priority boarding to let you board your United flights ahead of general boarding5
+ Two United ClubSM passes each year6
+ No annual fee for the first year - a $95 value*

I don't see any promotional code anywhere. Maybe worth calling to ask about it. Hope some of you find it useful.

I canceled my previous United card last year, I wonder if I could still get in on this.

This is definitly a target for MP elites. If you have status with UA you can log into your account on united and find the 60K offer on the right side of the screen, might have to scroll down a bit. This is how I got the offer. :-)

I signed up for 25K first spend, 5K additional cardholder. Secure message sent to Chase about this 50K first spend offer resulted in them adding an additional 20K to my UA account (repeated this for CO as well). 40K UA/CO miles for two little emails sent: yes please

There's a link, but no matter how I try to hack the link, it either goes to no where or goes to a page with my information pre-populated. I couldn't find a link or promo code. It came to me in email.

I seem to get this offer in the mail about 3 times a week .

Also, when I login to United.com, the offer is there in a banner on the right side.

I doubt that. My friend, who is not an elite in anything at all, got the same offer for a CO card (essentially the same card/same bank) - needless to say, he jumped at it. It was definitely targeted with a personal code but obviously not for elites only.

Another data point agreeing with this. I have a friend with no status got targetted for same offer. Definetly personal code, but not just for elites.

I got targeted for this offer, and I'm a no status college student with limited credit

I applied, not expecting much but it would be nice if I get accepted since I have several flights on UA coming up.

...you have to spend $25,000.00 in one year for the added 10K miles? Gulp. Well, I guess some of you can swing that. But, how do I get just the sign-up 50K miles link? I've been wating for this offer ever since the rumor got started early last fall. Maybe the full-blown, available everywhere offer will appear in 2012 (per the rumor).

And, of course, spending $25000 in itself would earn 25k miles (without any bonus). So it's just a 10k bonus on 25k spend. Looking at it that way, it's even less exciting IMHO...

Starting next week, you can earn 50k miles just for 26 stays at Marriott Rewards hotels (Jan-Apr), 2000 bonus miles starting with the second stay. Way less spend (if done with, say, cheap suburban Fairfield one-night stays) for way more miles.

I thus don't see this, practically, as any better than a plain old 50k offer.

The last 10,000 miles bonus on the card is hard to get. The first 50,000 you get on first spend (any amount). So that's easy to do. I am unlikely to get that last 10,000 miles, but the first 50,000 should be cake walk. Maybe I can see if someone is booking an expensive around the world cruise.
