Applying for credit cards in the same day: any advantages?
Hi all,
I am looking to apply to multiple credit cards, mostly because of the sign up bonuses. My credit score is good but I have applied to some credit cards already in the last few months so I am worried the new applications might be tougher to get. I am wondering if there is any advantage in applying to all of them on the same day: I am thinking Sapphire Preferred from Chase, Premier Rewards Gold from Amex, and US Airways Premier World from Barclays. Would this prevent the different banks from seeing the other applications (similar to the 2 75k Citi AAdvantage strategy)? Thanks! |
The inquiries will appear in real time so if the issuers pull the same credit report it will see the inquiry from earlier in the day.

some have said that some banks can't see the earlier pulls....on the same day..so that way its advantageous..also beneficial if your getting two cards from same bank..most likely using same credit agency..

if the same report is pulled, it is simply not true that the earlier inquiry would somehow not be seen (for credit card apps).

The account information will take a long time (weeks) to appear on your report, not like inquiries.

If I get the first credit card application instantly approved, would these new info show up immediately? Thanks.

Well what happens if you apply at the exact same time with two browsers or incognito?

I don't think it could hurt to try - worst case, they see the other hard pulls. I recently applied for several cards on the same day, including cards from Chase (2 cards), Amex (2 cards) and Barclays. I had all the apps open in the same browse with separate tabs, filled out all the forms, and then quickly submitted them all at the same time. I did notice that if you try it with multiple Chase or Amex cards (can't remember which) when you click on the "Verify Info" button (which gets you to the page where you Submit the app) it would see the app from the other tab and switch the application, so I had to do the 2nd Chase and Amex apps separately a few minutes later. I was approved for all of them.

What you're considering has a name: app-o-rama.
More here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118255545661145353.html and here: http://www.app-o-rama.com/ Inquiries will be logged immediately, but most card issuers don't pull all three credit bureaus, so your inquiries will be spread out. You also won't be turned down for "too many new accounts." Some banks/card issuers (Barclays/Juniper) are very sensitive to new accounts/inquiries, and they have been known to close accounts after they have been opened (called Adverse Action or "AA"). So as long as you're not planning to buy a house or a car anytime soon, good luck, and avoid any card issued by Barclays/Juniper |
