For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Why would they not honor already issued certificates? I have seen nothing that hints at that. If Barclay's is dumped, then the stream of new certificates might shut down, but not honoring existing certs creates angry customers.

Applied for the 35K offer, which would be my second card. Denied. Called reconsideration and was told the reason for auto-denial was for having the same product, and a second approval would be a no go for having duplicate product. On the plus side, was told that they didn't pull a credit report because the system caught the application as a duplicate. Also, wouldn't move credit lines or open a different version of the card because apparently their current policy is to only offer 1 personal US Air card per customer.

First card was in 12/2012

Has anyone NOT gotten this recently on a 2nd card? Browsed a few pages back and didn't see any datapoints.

I believe I saw a report of a second card approval within the past 2 weeks, but it seems denials for second cards have become the norm.
On the other hand, you never know with BizarreClays.

Received 10k Anniv. miles exactly 12 months from the date I applied, annual fee did not post immediately after statement, cancelled card. So total of 40k + 15k + 10k + 2250 = 67,250 US Airways Miles for one CC signup w/ annual fee waived 1st yr

Thanks Barclays! ^

Nice. Thought the 10K would not post until after annual fee was charged.

First they say 1st year's annual fee isn't waived; another call and they say it is

My wife applied through the same link as I did. But when she called to confirm the bonus, sure enough it was 35K on 1st purchase. But the CSR, and even a "manager", claimed the annual fee was not waived the first year. They kept robotically repeating the benefits of the card, saying the (first year's) fee couldn't be waived due to the benefits. Then asked her to fax "documentation" in order for the annual fee to be waived the first year. A real hassle.

Was hoping they just didn't understand the question she was asking, e.g. annual fee waived the *first* year but not subsequent years. But they claimed her annual fee would post later this month.

Then my wife called back. We were going to see if we could provide them with the app link used and the Terms & Conditions link via email rather than Fax. And the new CSR told her the annual fee *was* waived the first year.

Wanted to warn anyone else out there using the link. And also to remind myself to be sure the annual fee doesn't post to my account. For some context, I've also had really bad luck in the past with the call center Barclays uses to service its US Airways customers. Hopefully others have had better luck.

Here's the link to the Terms & Conditions. Folks may want to screenshot it / print it out. Recently I've been dropping my guard with screenshotting apps and T&Cs. Maybe it's more important to do so with some banks vs. others? Anyway, here is the T&Cs link clearly stating the annual fee of $89 is waived the first year:

Saw that terms and conditions were what I wanted--35K after first purchase, annual fee waived the first year.

When I clicked the final OK to apply at the end, I got:

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues. Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later."

Googled Flyertalk.com with the above text and saw to use the following link to check app status:

https://www.barclaycardus.com/app/ja...lt_partner=003

Sure enough, I'd been approved. Hopefully will receive what was promised when I get the card and/or call earlier to confirm.

Thank you once again FT community. :-)

I know...Don't remind me. Hoping I can at squeak 2014 out of the card.

The US card is the best card I have ever had. Its loaded. Hate the CS but love the benefits.

Confused on the status of the 40k offer. Is the one here with $89 1st year fee still valid?

https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...7514156b412823

Doesn't say you need to be a Preferred member. Or is the issue with this one the lack anniversary bonus? Thus 35k w/ no fee and the anniversary bonus is no brainer vs 40k with $89 and no anniversary deal.

Just was sharing notes with a friend and BINGO, I realized a pattern... the targeted 15K bonus offer seems to come about 3 months after you get the card.

Got mine in Oct, target offer was for Jan, Feb and March (points just posted).

Mr StartinSanDiego got his card in late Dec, his targeted offer was for March, April and May.

Can anyone collaborate this?

A little less for wife and I. Wife applied on 02/08 and I on 02/16. Both got email offers on 04/24 followed by mailers a couple days later.

Some have, some not. It is useful data point when folks report how long in-between apps between the 1st card and 2nd. Barclays is clamping down but the door seems a little open still. It appears though if not auto-approved for a 2nd card these days chances of calling the recon number and getting approved are slim to none.

With Barclays and this card, no means no in most cases. Chase they are not!
