We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus
Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]
There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived
Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)
1) I applied for this card but got the message
Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/
At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.
2) What's the reconsideration line number?
866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.
3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?
Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.
4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?
Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.
5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?
The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.
AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.
Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Hi all,
A quick question I'd like your opinion on...I've currently got the US Premier World MC, and am going to cancel so I can get the 35k offer that milesmuncher kindly linked us to above. That said, I'm wondering about my companion certificates...the hard copy states that they must be redeemed using a US MC, but it doesn't say if it's linked to my account or not. Any tips you guys could offer me would help a lot (my gut says it must be linked to my account, but I'm not sure that cancelling the card would void the offer since I have technically satisfied the T&C by hitting the 1 year anniv.)....

Why not apply for a second card? It's unclear if you will be approved (some have been approved for a second card while keeping open their first card; others have not), but you may well be. After applying (whether or not you get approved for a second card) I would call Barclays to clarify the question you have.

I can't claim to be 100% sure about this - but I've never seen anything in the literature about this card that suggests that that would be the case. I would be VERY surprised if this card granted any sort of priority security privileges. Let's call it 99% sure

Don't know how others are getting approved for a second card. I got my first one July 2012 and got denied when I applied yesterday for a 2nd card. When I called the reconsideration line, I was told that every consumer can only have one card.
I mentioned that I needed this for my business (I own and manage rental property), the rep said I should apply for the business card, but when she looked at my report, I was lectured for having too many recent inquires (two) and having applied for and closed too many cards in 2012. Actually, I've been pretty tame compared to FT standards (played it safe due to a refi) so I don't know what gives...YMMV.

hang up and call again until you hear you been approved.

Applied today for the 40K miles, 10K anniversary, first year waived via a link I found in this thread. I received pending status with the link to check your status. Like many they had no record online nor via the phone of my application. Some reported email approval within a couple hours so I waited and nothing (it is Saturday so maybe why). I decided to apply for the 35K miles found in post #1 and instantly approved. Verified via t/c's it also has the 10k anniversary and no fee first year.
This is my first Barclay's card.
Edit: I had left my "check application status" open from my first app and decided to refresh it and I got the congratulations/approved message. I am wondering if the first app was never submitted. Something worth noting for those trying to use the 40K offer that is floating out there.

I applied under this link which I didn't even realize was for Barclay's Employees until after I applied. They never asked for a employee ID and I was approved and also sent to the US air CC page to activate the card
30K and annual fee waived, didn't see the 35K offers until after I applied

You may have gotten the 35K approval but your 40K app may still be out there. No harm-same day.
