50,000 after $3,000 spend:

Capital One usually does a hard pull with all three credit bureaus.
If you have a security freeze on your report, they generally will not allow you to submit a code for this report to be viewable.

If you've held this card before, it looks like you can get this bonus again. Data points: 1, 2. YMMV

I would like to use my points from capital venture rewards to pay for the remaining $300. Not sure if anyone has done it or even possible. Thanks.

I notice that you get ripped off if you want account credit to your balance or have a check sent to you. You get a much better deal by redeeming for gift cards.
You can only use Capital One miles to redeem against actual purchases. Does United Mileageplus allow you to pay using both miles and $s? If so you can pay the $ part with your Capital One card, and then redeem miles for that portion. Or, you can purchase the United miles you are short, again using your Capital One for the purchase and then redeeming against that purchase. Whether that's a good value or not, have to factor that in.

Just used my Venture card miles to pay for a rental car and hotel stay. They were both listed as misc travel expenses on my statement.

Sorry if this has been asked 50 times already, but I haven't been able to find it:

Can I use my CapOne Venture card for airport parking and take a travel reimbursement from my points/miles? Everything I read suggests CapOne is pretty generous with what they consider travel and are often willing to grant the travel reimbursement even if it does not automatically code as travel.

This is for midway airport. Merchant code 7523 - Ground transportation services

I applied online today for the Venture and got an instant approval! yay! so I applied again (based on another poster's success in getting 2 cards in 1 day) in another browser private window and got another instant approval! I have no idea if I'll also get 2 cards/2 bonuses though - will post when I find out. If so, this could be a base strategy for applications. I figured it doesn't hurt to try. Oh, I also got approvals with Experian frozen.

Edit: Wow. I just checked my Cap1 account online. Both cards are on there with different numbers - each $15K CL! So I think I'm good for the bonuses! YES!!!!

Does CapOne still waive the annual fee for the Venture card? The latest datapoint was in Jan 2015.

denial

applied both my spouse and I to the venture card today. Both over 730 credit scores (wife has 780) and havent been doing much churning lately, so I was surprised to see an INSTANT DENIAL (not a 'call us' a straight up, no, sorry, without any invitation to call or speak).

Ive never been instantly denied. Anybody else getting this?

I received an annual fee waiver today on my Capital One Venture Visa for the second year in a row now. I was able to get it this time around via secure chat (always love it when I don't have to call in!). It was an easy and painless process (took a total of 5-10 mins). I do put some charges on it ($1) every month. Not sure if this helped.

I know there are reports of folks getting approved for more than one of these cards and getting the sign-on bonus. But with the 3 hard pulls, and not being pre-qualified for the card, not worth it for me. But I will keep it around as long as there is no annual fee - to extend the life of my credit history.

Give a call and try for a recon. There might be some mismatch in information from 3 CB, that may also be the reason for it.

yes they do. I just got AF waived again...second year in a row. Same with my Spark card. I put about $4K/month spend on it. Their CS is really great to deal with.

Capital One Venture Rewards Questions

I just got approved for this card last week and it's currently in transit. I moved to the States a few years ago and I'm slowly building my credit portfolio, so anything that helps is better than nothing.

I'm trying to meet the 3K min. spend within 3 months, which is not a problem at all, except that I'm reluctant to put any dining or big travel spend on the card right now when my wife has the Chase SP and Barclay Arrival Plus; both of which offer a much better redemption value.

So here's what I'd like to know in determining how to use the new card in order to meet the min. for the sign up bonus:

1) What constitutes a travel purchase? Is it strictly hotels and flights? What about travel services; tours, foreign transit, etc?

2) What time window do I have to redeem expenses for travel purchases? If I were to strategically charge certain travel related bookings to my new card, would I then be able to redeem against those charges 3-4 months down the line when all of the points are posted to my account? Is there a time limit or restriction on when you can request a redemption for 2% of past travel related purchases?

Thanks very much!

On a side note, I've never had any financial institution request a front/back photo of my ssn card before. Their fraud dept. claimed it was necessary to verify certain discrepencies, which they refused to detail. I don't understand how or why this would be necessary when the only information on the card besides my name is the number itself, which I've already provided them. It seemed very fishy and I called three times to verify that it wasn't a scam.
