50,000 after $3,000 spend:
https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/travel-and-miles/
Capital One usually does a hard pull with all three credit bureaus.
If you have a security freeze on your report, they generally will not allow you to submit a code for this report to be viewable.
If you've held this card before, it looks like you can get this bonus again. Data points: 1, 2. YMMV

I got it from the rejection explanation letter sent to me by Capital One. Reason for application rejection = no revolving balances on other credit cards. (I'm paraphrasing... don't have the letter with me). I've paid off every card's statement balance in full going on at least two years now. My FICO is around 840.

In general, issuers report the balance that appears on your paper/pdf statements. If you pay that balance in full before the next statement in generated you are not carrying a balance and you pay no interest, but the issuers do not report payments made, only the next statement balance.
If you are paying all of your accounts early, such that the statements always show a zero balance, that might cause you to be declined, but paying the statement balance in full to avoid paying interest is invisible to other issuers and cannot be the basis for any decision.

They should never reject anyone with an 840. They should be approving people with scores in the low 600's.
They'll never shake the reputation of being an issuer solely for those with garbage credit.

A lot of recent credit applications even with a high score is just not their thing. I don't think though it makes them a bad issuer, it just makes them different. It also makes it much less likely that their promotions will go away due to churning.

My Venture application was denied by Capital One
Their reasoning was rather silly..
Based on your credit report from Equifax, too few or no revolving accounts have a balance
Based on your credit report from Trans Union, there are too many new revolving accounts
My credit score is excellent (> 810), and I only have 4 new accounts over past two years. It seems like CapitalOne is even more strict than Chase 5/24 rule. I am not sure why Capital One would reject someone who is a good spender like myself over some silly reasons they gave me.
p.s. I have a 1.5% quicksilver card from CapitalOne that was opened many years ago (although I haven't used it for past few years).

Well, Capital One will close your card after three years of no activity, and if you are not using the current card they issued you, why would they give you a new card? You could product change to the Venture on QS, but oh yeah, you want the starter bonus.
I know this forum thinks only 4 new in 2 years is not much, but for most others, it is a lot. Yes, they definitely appear to be more strict than Chase.
In any case, your experience is very common across all the credit boards about Capital One approvals.

What Capital One is seeing are applicants who are opening accounts (too many new revolving accounts), but not using them ongoing (no revolving accounts have a balance). This indicates churning, and they aren't interested in awarding new account bonuses for card that will not be used after the bonus is earned. It doesn't matter to them if their algorithm is correct in your case, each of us is nothing other than an instance of a type.

Pretty much all of Chase's cards are better than Capital One's cards.
Capital One can't even offer an average CC without charging a $95 annual fee.
Unless someone is seriously embedded in Capital One's transfer partners, I don't see why one would try to get under 4/24 just to get a C.O card when they can get one from Chase instead - especially when their other ones offer a whooping 1.5% cash back, 1.25 "miles" per dollar, and 1.25% cash back if you pay on time that month.
People who know what they're doing will continue to LOL at "what's in your wallet?"
