Capital One usually does a hard pull with all three credit bureaus.
If you have a security freeze on your report, they generally will not allow you to submit a code for this report to be viewable.

If you've held this card before, it looks like you can get this bonus again. Data points: 1, 2. YMMV

I was paying attention to this thread and some of the bloggers so well aware Cap 1 has been paying attention to those of us in this hobby since the 100,000 miles give away years ago (thanks Cap 1 for that).

I am at 5/24, have 12 open cards, have balance showing on 4 of the 12 as of the time of application since I do not pay cc balance before the statement posts, but have always paid off in full immediately after it does. My homes and vehicles paid for so no other active accounts, and very good income and credit score. I have over 35 other closed accounts by me also showing on my reports that include the sole Cap 1 card I ever had that closed the end of 2011. This was the response I received.

Dear isle-hawg Application ID: XXXCreditor: Capital One Bank (USA), N.A.Thank you for applying for a credit card issued by Capital One®. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application and information obtained from your consumer credit report(s) from the agencies detailed on the back of this letter - we cannot approve your request at this time.

The reason(s) for our decision are:

• Based on your credit report from Equifax, too few or no revolving accounts have a balance.

• Based on your credit report from Trans Union, there are too many new revolving accounts.

If you feel we missed something or misread your information, then please write to us at P.O. Box30280, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0280 and include your Application ID number referenced above.(Please note: we recommend you contact the credit agencies first to ensure they have accurately reported your information to us. Contact information is provided on the back of this letter.)We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but we hope there is an opportunity to provideyou new products and services in the future.Sincerely,Capital One Customer Care Team
I am 6/24 and 0/6 and I received the following reason for decline:

Based on your credit report from Trans Union, number of bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months,

I have never had a Capital One credit card.

No, this benefit is available for either a Global Entry or TSA Pre✔® application fee charged to a Venture card beginning June 12, 2018, or later. Fees charged to a Venture card account on or before June 11, 2018, are not eligible for a statement credit.”
My GE doesn't expire until my birthday in 2021 -- actually it was renewed for 5 1/2 years when they switched to birthday renewals.
I think that the 2015 renewal was covered by some cc, but don't remember which.
Not to have CapOne offering this, but since they've waived the annual fee for me ever since I got the card with the match your miles promo, I wonder if CapOne would pay for my GE?

Cash Back Credit Cards (redemption)

I am looking to complement my miles/points earning with a cash back credit card. The goal is to offset travel cost for places that can't be redeem with miles/points (like a Bed and Breakfast lodging). I am trying to understand the redeeming part of these cards (not the earning). A card that keeps coming up during my research is the Capital One Venture credit card; the card offers an "erase" feature that redeem earned miles to credit travel expenditures. Isn't this just like a statement credit? How is Capital One Venture different from AMEX Blue Cash Everyday or Discover it Cash Back or Capital Quicksilver.? Do these not offer cash back and doesn't need to be travel related expense?

Is Capital One Venture Rewards card with 50,000 miles applicable

with United?

Can I transfer the 50,000 miles to my United program?

I know the Sapphire Chase card you can, can you with this one also or do these miles have to be used via their specific program?

I see it says fly any airline, but what I want to do is move the miles into my United Mileage Plus account.

No. Capital One cards earn points which they choose to call miles. The points have a fixed monetary value of $0.01 which you can apply to the purchase of an airline ticket. They cannot be transferred to any frequent flyer program.

capital one - negative $ balance, positive points balance ?

I received a 100,000 point bonus for getting the capital one venture card and charged the required $5k (actually I spent $10k). I paid the balance on the card. I then later got a refund for one of the charges ($3k for tuition), so I now have a negative $ balance on the card (-$3k) but the miles remain (approx 100,000). However, the online system will not give me any redeem options such as gift cards or anything for that matter. I am wondering if it freezes the points until you spend up to a zero balance again? Does anyone know if this is true? thanks.

Question Is Capital One Venture-card ,the best bang for buck for miles?

Hi,
I live in philly and already have a AA adv. citi platinum Card....

Is Capital One Venture-card ,the best bang for buck for easy miles? Can I cancel (before yearly fee) and still keep the 50k miles after spending 3k in 3 months?
Pls advice !!! thx ......Kris

Here’s what the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card offers:•An annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $95.
•A great sign-up bonus: Enjoy a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $500 in travel.
•No foreign transaction fees

Venture One

Just remember that this card is basically a 2% cash back card. You don't earn airline miles, but you can apply your bank against a wide variety of travel categories at a penny a point (and if you earn two points per dollar then that is 2% cash back). It is a good card and I have had it for years. At any time just log on to your account and "erase" travel purchases with your point balance. There is no reason to hold off as they always will have the same value.

If you're looking for a cash back card, I'd go with the Arrival Plus. 60,000 miles for $5k spend/3 months and the annual fee is waived the first year. Additionally, you get 5% of the miles back when you redeem them.

thx... but it says 50k miles bonus.. so that's not points then right? I guess it's not affiliated with any airline....

The term "miles" used by Cap 1, coming out from Jennifer Garner's mouth, is highly misleading.

To the general public, the meaning of "miles" is what they earn and use for a FFP, that you may be able to further maximize the value if you can book smartly. In the case of Cap 1, they are basically points that you can convert back to a statement credit or similar. Bottom, you are not earning miles with Cap 1.

FWIW - I hate Cap 1 even I am not a customer at all.
