Capital One usually does a hard pull with all three credit bureaus.
If you have a security freeze on your report, they generally will not allow you to submit a code for this report to be viewable.

If you've held this card before, it looks like you can get this bonus again. Data points: 1, 2. YMMV

As long as recon doesn't pull credit again, it could be worth a shot. I just got a card from recon after being declined (not Cap 1)

I got a mailer from Cap1 for a Venture with a 16digit Reservation # and a 6 digit Access Code for 60,000 miles after $3000 spend.
But, Cap1 hates me. I have applied twice in the last 3-4 years and rejected both times, Nobody else rejects me. I don't think they like my good credit (never carrying balances) and I am about 15/24.
My question: does having these special codes do me any good at all? Am I just wasting my time and another Cap1 triple pull?

I'm in the same boat as you, CO hates me. Just applied couple days ago with code, also got denied. Also at 16/24. 3rd denied for Venture card, 1yr apart from each app. I had a Sony card with them for 18yrs since college. I'm not going to bother with CO anymore, just wasting precious HP with them.

My partner has a 60K targeted offer (16-digit code) expiring 6/1. Can other people use it?

Do we know any details that affect churnability? I opened one card on 6/1/2017 and got the 50K bonus. Should I close it or leave open?

I have a question about redemptions. I tried searching for the answer first, but all the responses seem to pre-date recent changes to the program so I'm hoping someone has more recent experience.

Can I make a partial redemption using the Capital One card on hotel purchases? I'm ready to close my account and I want to wipe out my remaining point balance. I have about $530 in credit and the hotel I want will be ~$700. Can I make a partial redemption even though I don't have enough points to cover the entire balance?

(In the past I know this was possible, but only on airfare. I'm wondering if this has changed to cover hotels now.)

TIA

If you plan to use points for a cash credit, this is easy. Charge the hotel to the venture card, then when the charge posts, apply the credit.

Adding my data point to the discussion.

I have been in this game for a really long time, and received my first personal cc decline in well over 30 years this month for the Venture after applying with the latest mailer with invitation code.

I was paying attention to this thread and some of the bloggers so well aware Cap 1 has been paying attention to those of us in this hobby since the 100,000 miles give away years ago (thanks Cap 1 for that).

I am at 5/24, have 12 open cards, have balance showing on 4 of the 12 as of the time of application since I do not pay cc balance before the statement posts, but have always paid off in full immediately after it does. My homes and vehicles paid for so no other active accounts, and very good income and credit score. I have over 35 other closed accounts by me also showing on my reports that include the sole Cap 1 card I ever had that closed the end of 2011. This was the response I received.

Dear isle-hawg Application ID: XXXCreditor: Capital One Bank (USA), N.A.Thank you for applying for a credit card issued by Capital One. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application and information obtained from your consumer credit report(s) from the agencies detailed on the back of this letter - we cannot approve your request at this time.

The reason(s) for our decision are:

Based on your credit report from Equifax, too few or no revolving accounts have a balance.

Based on your credit report from Trans Union, there are too many new revolving accounts.

If you feel we missed something or misread your information, then please write to us at P.O. Box30280, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0280 and include your Application ID number referenced above.(Please note: we recommend you contact the credit agencies first to ensure they have accurately reported your information to us. Contact information is provided on the back of this letter.)We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but we hope there is an opportunity to provideyou new products and services in the future.Sincerely,Capital One Customer Care Team

Does anyone know if the new Global Entry / TSA Pre statement credit applies to existing Venture cardholders?

Yes it does. I got an email yesterday regarding this. Introducing the newest benefit of your Venture cardanother way you can save time and money when you travel.

In the FAQ of the email: I charged my Global Entry/TSA Pre✔ application fee to my Venture card on/before June 11, 2018. Am I eligible for the statement credit?
No, this benefit is available for either a Global Entry or TSA Pre✔ application fee charged to a Venture card beginning June 12, 2018, or later. Fees charged to a Venture card account on or before June 11, 2018, are not eligible for a statement credit.

Thanks for the info. Im a bit surprised that I still havent received an email about this. I wonder if the fact that I have the $59 annual fee version (grandfathered in) makes a difference or not? I called CapOne and front line reps dont seem to know. I might just take a chance and give it a try. If/when I do, I will report back.

I also have the $59 annual fee version. Since I got the email, I had assumed it applied to all Venture cards with the $59/$95 AF.
