Expedia Points

Hi has anyone used or signed up for the Citi PremierPass® / Expedia® World MasterCard®?

I am thinking of signing up for the card to get the $100 off a trip that I am planning to Nassau and was thinking if its worth it. Any tips would be great.

Thank you,
Alex

Welcome to FlyerTalk Alex.

If you are signing up only for getting $100 off your Nassau trip, there may be better card options for you than this one. If you could ellaborate your requirements from a card, I am sure you will get better inputs.

The details of the program are:
$100 back as a statement credit after
you book on Expedia1
2 points per $1 spent on Expedia3
2 points per $1 spent at grocery stores,
gas stations, and more4
1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases4
1 point for every 1 mile you fly4
Complimentary companion ticket6
$75 annual fee5

And

$50 back as a statement credit after
you book on Expedia1
2 points per $1 spent on Expedia3
1 point per $1 spent on all purchases4
1 point for every 3 miles you fly4
No annual fee5

I hope it helps. I know that this is something new with Expedia

Welcome to Flyertalk.

The card you describe is not new. It earns Citi ThankYou points and Expedia is terminating this program soon:

Most of us are familiar with the card and we don't specific details about the card. Perhaps, you didn't get what I asked in my earlier post. What are your requirements from a card? Based on that someone here can make a better recommendation.

This card has been around for over 5 years. If you plan on flying a lot and buying tickets for others, you can surely amass a lot of points. However, be aware that your flight points only credit 1:1 as your purchase points.

As jeelele said, whether it's worth it to you depends on your needs. I have the card, but I much prefer my Schwab card, but I still buy air tickets on it. You get slightly better than 2% if you purchase gas and redeem on mortgage payments.

Sorry about that. I didn't understand the question.

I got lucky and got myself a Schwab card before they closed it down.

I got the expedia card because it gives points/miles for flying and I have a trip out to Ausi planned and that is 10K miles eachway. plus I booked on expedia and that is 2X the cost.

As mentioned above, unless you have heavy spending, your flight points will be transferred as redeemable points only at 1:1 to the spending points. Like a lot of PPE users, you may be disappointed after learning how the program works.

Flight points dont turn to ThankYou point (spendable point at 1 penny per point valuation at the maximum value) until it is matched by ACTUAL $ spending.

You have to spend $20K in order to "release" the 20K flight points earned from the trip. It is "point for point", $1 spending pt to match 1 flight point (1 mile flown = 1 flight point), in order to turn the flight point become usable Thankyou Point. So if your spending is only $5K for the whole year, you only get 5K additional ThankYou point from the pool of the flight points of your Australia trip.

As jeelele said, you may want to get a better understanding of how the program works, else you will be very disappointed when the reality turns out not matching your expectation (based on wrong assumption or misunderstanding of the program rules.)

BTW, the card is not new to Expedia. Actually it is phrasing out by Expedia as it ends the partnership with Citi.

After Dec 2010 you no longer earn extra spending points by booking through Expedia - the partnership has ended and the deadline of earning 2x spending ends on 12/31/10.
