CU credit card
I current hold a credit card from my local credit union. I mainly use the card for when a merchant doesn't take American Express. Last year they ended my fixed rate credit card and moved me to a platinum rewards card. I get 1 point per dollar spend and currently have a 9.5% variable APR. Since I don't use the card enough to care about the rewards and the fact that the points expire in 5 years. I'm wondering if I should move to just a platinum card that they now offer; no rewards but 8.5% variable APR. I tend to pay in full and don't use the card a whole lot its more of a low APR/ low FOREX 1% card. (I've had Capitalone in the past the no FOREX is nice but the company sucks). Would you drop the rewards program since it isn't anything to write home about or would you look for a new card all together?

I would probably just stick with the cards you have. If you don't use it much and you pay in full, then the 1% reduction in apr probably isn't worth the damage it will do to your credit history. Every new account adds a hard inquiry and reduces the average age of accounts. Keep using your amex and save this card for international travel. If you want to get a new card, you might as well get one with one of those big upfront bonuses!

Only CC i used is my credit union one. My rate has been 9.9% for the past three years. Plus, the foreign exchange fee is 1%.

Actually have one of these and was about to redeem for a roundtrip flight until I realized they had a 21-day advance purchase and saturday night stay requirement. Absolutely stupid.
