[QUOTE=downinit;33866857]Given the current explosion of Covid cases, if they were to charter an evac flight for everyone who tested positive on vacation, they would surely go bankrupt in a very short order. I would be quite shocked if any policy T&C's allowed evacs due to asymptomatic or mild infections. The purpose of medical evacuation has always been to give people life-saving treatment that is unavailable locally, not to skirt around quarantine requirements.

I agree yet I am hearing a lot of anecdotal instances of people using these services for this purpose. I suspect that these policies were offered without expecting omicron hitting over the heavy holiday travel season.

their policy states a positive PCR test and 1 symptom, which could be fatigue or headache.

Well we did and it’s going to be 4-5 days before we get home…. And this is so far. To this point, This is NOT as advertised. They do not measure in hours- it’s days u til you get a response or any plans to get home

OP here - I'm actually quite happy to see that it worked - 4 days is much better than 14 days. In the case of the senator from Washington who got covid in El Salvador, it might've saved his life (he was unable to get the monoclonal antibody in El Salvador and the delay in evac made the treatment less successful). I'd only be considering using Covac for trips to sketchy places like Africa or Asia; I don't think there's a rule about using it for consecutive days or certain geographic areas. Hoping more people who have actively used the service will post their experience!

You probably already know this, but if you were itching to get home as fast as possible... with Mexico you can still cross the land border to the US.

"U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs) may enter via land ports of entry or via ferry regardless of vaccination status and are not required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test."
