What are most affected industries by Covid?

My family member works at quite a large company in Asia which also has travel agency as a subdivision.

During recent call it was mentioned that for Asia, quote:

“Business for the travel subdivision has dropped by 99.1% and in number of countries it was 100%.”

This prompted me to ask question - where one can get (reliable) information which industries have been most affected by Covid globally, per region and per country?

Thank you.

Once cold temperatures arrive, upscale restaurants outside of So. Cal, will be in big trouble.

How can movie theaters survive?

I’ve seen unemployment numbers by job sector. In the US, the hardest hot job sector was leisure and hospitality.

In the spring, leisure and hospitality unemployment In the US.was north of 40%. It has now dropped to an average of 25% in the US.

the hotel accommodations subsector Has a 38% unemployment rate. That’s the biggest hit. That and concerts.

I am using the Bureau of Labor Statistics for US date. GDP stats would be more accurate but harder to break out.

The link I used is here: https://www.bls.gov/iag/tgs/iag70.htm

Both negativity and positivity.

Positively the "at home fitness" industry has grown a lot, one specific personal trainer mentioned in his area the market share grew up 600%.

I work in energy and power generation.....

We have been negatively affected by the fact we can't get consistent flights
Getting various state departments to issue quarantine waivers so we can fly to different countries and work - assuming we can even get a flight
Staying in hotels with little or no service

On the bright side - uber eats is my new best friend

Those businesses involved in large group events/conferences are definitely hurting in many places.

Bankruptcy filings and commercial space availability/closures will eventually tell a substantial story about what industries got hit hardest.

GDS like Sabre and Amadeus will be hit hard. I believe they only get any payment if a PAX flies.

What would happen if Sabre or Amadeus went out of business?
Governments are usually willing to bailout airlines , I'm not sure about bailouts for a GDS

Performance industry is devastated. Think concerts, Broadway, etc.

Many have done some socially distanced outside events but once cold weather encroaches, even that small outlet is eliminated.

As an addendum, how about sports??

Yep that Socially distanced concert event in the NY Hamptons went over really well. haha https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/27/n...istancing.html

Conferences and trade shows. While many of the individual organizations that put on the conferences have been able to pivot to doing them virtually, some simply can't, and the fallout from no large live meetings has been devastating. It's not just the hotel employee's and local business that get impacted. It's the AV techs, the decorators, the caterers. Most of those companies have cut their staff between 50-90%, and I know of a couple that have already folded.

Nah, No need to blame the virus, (pro)sports is doing it to itself.
