Checking into a hotel during a pandemic

Mask compliance but "you will not take my temperature!"

What is it with these idiots that flip about about security precautions? Has Covid fried their brains?

In Illinois it's now a FELONY to assault a worker enforcing face masks:

I would have thought that assault had been a felony in Illinois (and elsewhere)

My concern with mass temperature taking is that I don't want a thermometer that has touched the skin of random strangers to touch me. I've seen people use the thermometers that are supposed to be placed close to the person in a way that the thermometer does touch the person's forehead or whatever.

Everyone's fine with TSA security queues, drunk driving penalties, seat belt rules, smoking bans, speed limits, tickets for jaywalking, hygiene inspections for restaurants, ad infinitum, but suddenly THESE particular public health measures are a bottomless horror. Sometimes America makes no sense.

The behaviour on the video is of course completely unacceptable but temperature checks are utterly stupid too. Most people with COVID-19 don't have high temperature and most people with high temperature don't have COVID-19. Temperature checks are nothing but a security theatre, based on outdated knowledge.

Has anyone checked into any New York hotel (hilton or marriott brand) recently with an out-of-state id?

My out-of-state id is from a state which is on the NY quarantine list, do I need any sort of proof that I have already finished my 14 day quarantine before the hotel will allow me to check in, or any proof that I have not been in my home-state in the past 14 days even though my id is from there?

Why are you showing the hotel a driver's license or state ID? Use your passport or passport card.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with someone in HK earlier this year - telling me that people would take Tylenol or other fever reduction meds during SARS when going somewhere with temp scanners - sick or not

Highlighted a few that I highly disagree that 'everyone is fine with'.
