Interesting: not a single US carrier and one (1) from *alliance (SQ).

When did Alaska secede from the union?

southlondonphil Apr 2, 2020 4:45 am

And British Airways is not extending the frequent flyer member status period, merely reducing the (re)qualification threshold for memberships expiring in April, May and June(*) and extending the expiry date of any 'companion' or upgrade vouchers you may have acquired.

To be fair the article does make this clear, but the headline is somewhat misleading in the context of several airlines' actual offering.

(*) similar allowances are expected to be made for Jul, Aug and Sep etc. as the crisis drags on, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

My feeling is............just give it time.

The virus hasn't finished ravishing the airlines yet. We have another 4-8 weeks of major distress ahead, followed by..who knows since we don't yet have a good handle on post-surge disease behavior.

I would really like to see what this list looks like in 6 months.

Just because it's not in the article, doesn't mean it's not happening. :-) A3 has extended status by 6 months.

Turkish Airlines have extended Elite and Elite+ status with 6 months. As of yesterday.

LATAM extended 1 year their status

Alaska isn't really extending any status at this point yet. Sure they have a bonus elite miles offer going on, but it doesn't help when no one is flying.

GUWonder Apr 2, 2020 4:55 pm

The TATL-flying US airline industry cartel kingpins seem to be deliberately slow in putting forward status extensions or other status acquisition/retention waivers of sort in place.

BA and a few others fall into that category, but headlines are very limiting in terms of character length and also the need to get the core of the message across while also making it appealing.

Good to hear, but has this been confirmed by TK or is this just based on reports by M&S members of a wave of six-month extensions?
