The NCAA announced Wednesday that March Madness will go on as planned, but fans won't be allowed to attend because of concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

Michigan has declared a state of emergency (with only two covid-19 cases) and has recommended:

4. Cancel or postpone large gatherings, conferences, and sporting events (e.g., greater than 100 people in a shared space).

So, all conferences are getting canceled.

In a way, I am glad to see these things happening. The sooner these things start to affect us (especially minor things like cancelled sports events), the more we will take it seriously and the sooner we will get this under control.

California governor Newsom has recommended cancelling events with over 250 attendees.

Our small school district had already moved an upcoming “back to school night” to a virtual platform. Another small district has kids practicing the online platform.

My employer (health care) had banned groups & meetings over with 20, including lectures.

When appropriate, patient visits are being changed to telemedicine, starting for those on immunosuppressant drugs.

The Netherlands just canceled ALL events (sports, cultural, social, religious) expecting more than 100 people until 31 March.
Including museums and other public places where normally more than 100 people gather.

Probably doesn't raise to the level of impact on most as, say, the NBA suspending its season, but US Ski & Snowboard has cancelled all remaining events for the season. This includes the upcoming nordic world cup in Minnesota, which was to be the first time the US had hosted a nordic world cup event in many years.

Already added to my previous post 74.

I suspect that the big St Paul parade will cancel too, but everything I've seen so far seems to say that it's still on for the moment.

IIRC there's also a big parade in Philadelphia.

My prediction - in US, starting from next week, any outdoor/indoor gathering in a closed place with more than 1000 people will be canceled either by organizers or by city/state officials.
Because not doing this will be a terrible PR.
