Beware of PriceLock, Direct Purchase
I held a $95 COPA ticket through PriceLock. The price increased 50% today and I went to completed the purchase process for the ticket before the 24 hours lapsed. Unfortunately, the purchase was then canceled by COPA for security reasons. I am told I need to supply two credit card statements through an unsecure email address and then wait 48 hours to see if a decision is made.
If I had done this over again, I would break my typical rule to purchase direct with the airline and purchase via an OTA where this foolishness isn't required. I am very upset with COPA in that they are demanding two detailed credit card statements (which really is none of their business and we are talking about a $95 ticket here), and to have me send that through an email address (which is obviously not a secure communication channel, as if we are still in 1992). The CSR was completely unhelpful on the phone and dismissive, noting that I can just not follow their rules and buy a ticket elsewhere. So just wanted to warn others to be wary of using Pricelock or buying directly through COPA, especially for a trip on short notice. The CSR also couldn't guarantee that the PriceLock would stick after the 48 hour review process and all the games. Not a good experience at all! |
