Rocketmiles to keep Copa Connectmiles Active

So, I have 5,000 Connectmiles expiring this summer. I do plan on hanging onto them, for intra-Colombia flights sometime next year. Looking at my options, I figure Rocketmiles will work. I need to book a hotel for next week anyway, price isn't significantly different through Rocketmiles. Anybody know when those miles would post?

I don't have any car rentals through their partners to earn miles that way. I could do some SPG > Marriott > Copa, but it seems I'd be losing a lot of value that way...

Any other good ideas?

Scratch that. Rocketmiles must make a killing on selling airline miles! Still, I think I'd lose less value booking with them than sacrificing SPG points. I don't currently have any Marriott, so I'd have to transfer from Starwood.

I had 3 rocketmiles stays in March posted to my CM account.

It took 2 weeks approx.

Marriott/SPG conversion can be good value for money depending on your redemption patterns/destinations. I do a lot of private travelling to destinations where revenue tickets are usually steep, while redemption is very cheap. So having award miles for me is usally a very good deal. I also stocked up when they had their recent award miles sale.

Good point on the redemptions. So far, I've been hoarding my SPG, but I'm starting to use them strategically.

I'll be looking for the Copa miles to post in a few weeks.

Those rocketmiles are a ripoff from the prices I've seen in the past, better to just book a hotel that copa partners with, or rent a car for a day. I kept my AA miles alive by renting a car and just making sure I credited it to AA instead of AP.
