No experience flying COPA here. Looking at a return flight MDE-PTY-DEN with a 1-hour layover in PTY. From what I read they have extra screening for US-bound flights at the gate. Is a 1-hour connection enought time for a flight to the US? We would be in J, so I think that allows us to go to the front of the security queue at the gate. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks so much. Ask on the MDE flight what your gate for DEN flight is. It’s near imposible to miss the DEN flight if you are waiting in the line to be screened at the gate security checkpoint (I have never seen them leave with people still in this line, as it’s on them to process everyone). Obv if your flight from MDE is quite delayed, then that’s a different story |

I'm travelling BOG-PTY-GUA tomorrow with c. 50min before boarding of my flight to GUA starts. Will this be enough time to maybe also stop by the lounge for some time?

Hi I have a similar layover question but with a twist since although the two flights are COPA, they are on different tickets. For whatever reason, the full itinerary isn't able to be booked with points (even economy all the way through), but is able to be booked with cash. Will this be doable?
EZE-PTY 10:39 am, arrive PTY 4:08 pm in economy Separate ticket - PTY-SFO departing 6:27 pm in J We will have carry-on only, no checked baggage. Will we be able to check in all the way through when we check in at EZE? I assume we should be able to get boarding passes for the second flight at that time. Will we need to go through customs/immigration on arrival to PTY if we are transiting internationally on a separate ticket? Thanks in advance! |

Hi Everyone,
Flying next month through PTY with a 1:22 connection. In the past, I've had shorter connections leading to going from the arrival gate straight to the departure gate, or long enough to stay for a few hours in the lounge. With this connection time, will I have enough time to stop at the lounge? My departure flight is to the US, what's the gate cutoff time considering the additional security layer? |

You imply that you have made connections at PTY previously, so you know the place is huge. A lot will depend on the location of arrival and departure gates as well as lounge location and if flights operate on time. While I recently made a connection to the US at the end of Aug, I didn't really pay attention to any cut-off time. If you do stop at the lounge, I would suggest not lingering there too long.
I don't think the place is huge, my usual connections are at places like ATL, CDG, AMS so PTY is relatively small and manageable. |
Update: Flight arrived on time at the high 100 gates (143 I believe), so it was a short walk to T2 as my flight departed from 201. Went to the T2 Lounge (disappointing food, but allowed me to take care of my call), and headed back to the gate about 10 minutes past the boarding time. Arrived in the middle of the boarding process, the PreferAccess line allowed me to go through the security check immediately and board right away. I could have stayed 20 minutes more or so in the lounge but preferred to not take the risk.
