Clarification: Non-elite Traveling on Reward Ticket Booked Using Elite's Miles
Hey folks,
I did a bunch of searches and found some related posts, but with conflicting answers. Unless I missed it, the FAQ doesn't cover this explicitly either. I also checked CO's site, to no avail.
My partner is flying SFO-EWR-TLV in coach on Saturday on a reward ticket that I got her using my miles. I am Platinum, she has no status. If I have understood the various posts correctly, my status will apply to the ticket and her BP will indicate "EliteAccess. As such, she will be entitled to the 70lb baggage limit and will be exempt from checked baggage fees. Am I correct?
And did I miss this in the FAQ? If so, my bad. If not, can we update it?
Thanks, as always, for your insight!

I answered this about a month ago for I think COVA.
YMMV but every time I book a reward ticket using my miles for like a family member, their boarding passes are Elite and they are given two bags at 70 lbs. Even if they are non elite or whatever. They don't even have to be related to me it is just automatically marked as Plat on their tickets.
Every time, and I mean 100% of the time.

My experience has been the same. I am Plat elite, and my children are non-elites. I book tickets for them quite often, and it always shows
Elite Access and Platinum on their boarding passes, and they receive 70lb baggage allowance.

Same experience for this plat - companion gets elite access and 70lbs for tix booked w/ my miles.
What about lounge access for intl itineraries? If the person is traveling alone on a plat's miles and they have no status, can they get in? Any experiences?

When using Plat status to enter lounges, the lounge agents normally request the Platinum card.

For at least 8 months now, NW treats CO elites (on paid tickets) like a non-elite when it comes to baggage. The only way that you get free checked luggage is if you get upgraded to FC.

How about for seat selection and boarding priority (for awards for non-elite passengers paid for with miles from a CO elite account)?

Thanks for the confirmation. Excellent information.
Who is responsible for the FAQ? Can we get this added?
Thanks

Let me clarify a CO reward ticket, for a non elite, using miles of a Plat member... showed they were Plat on their BP, and for the NW segment they were given the higher ranking and 2 bags at 70 lbs but these were international tickets.
