Did I read the award chart correctly??? Did Cairns (formerly in Oceania, now in Australia region) just jump from 60K miles to 120K miles (both on award saver rates!) if wanting to go to mainland USA on CO via GUM??? ...?!? So now it's less miles to travel ex SYD to North America at 80K miles on AC/NZ/UA.

The problem is being a USA-based program and the US lounges flying to Canada/Mex/Caribbean. US claims that only transoceanic intl gets lounge access with US/UA *Gold. |

Everyone bashes US, and here I am, able to get into their lounges as advertised, without major headaches, and the US West folks even op-upped me a number of times as UA*G. In fact, last year, my US op-up rate (when not entitled to any upgrades whatsoever) was about equal to my 33% CO EUA rate as CO Platinum. |

My response was to a poster who was specifically thanking CO for the changes, when if left alone, it's very clear CO didn't want to do this (or at least the old CO regime didn't want to). |

This is a very strong program.
Being two round trips Asia/US per year, I can typically make to Gold and not 100% sure on Platinum. It does give lounge benefits for mid-tier. My big question. How does the stopover and open jaw rule for the award? especially intra-asia? those would be the key for whether i will switch all my business to *A (CO) in the future. I dont like UA because of starnet blocking. Thanks. |
