(as of 25AUG09) EWR - FRA/FCO goes 777 in Summer 2010

http://airlineroute.blogspot.com/200...-and-rome.html

As per GDS timetable display on 25AUG09, Continental is to operate Boeing 777-200ER aircraft instead of 767-400ER on the following routes in Summer 2010.

Newark - Frankfurt eff 02MAY10
Newark - Rome CO040/041 eff 01JUN10
None of these routes saw 777 in 2009 Summer. Can't remember the previous summer though.

Could be, but for EWR-FRA, I'm guessing that has to do with Star Alliance and increased summer demand to European connections.

Planning a EWR-FCO trip for next summer in BF. I was going to go with another airline on *A to try and get a lie-flat, I wonder if the 777s on that route will have the new seats. Looking at the existing BF seats on the 777 though seem very nice as well. Might not be worth a connection now...

Nice to see a 772 on EWR-FCO. I was planning a trip to FCO in April but now I might have to plan another, do you know when it runs till? I enjoy Italy in the early Fall.

I believe EWR-FCO was a 772 last summer.

EWR-FRA was originally a 777 when CO first started receiving its 777's in the late 1990's. I flew EWR-FRA when CO first switched that route over from a 742 to a 777 in summer of 1999.

The 777s were originally intended to replace the 742 routes, and the 767s to replace the DC10 routes. FRA used to be a bigger route for CO - now it will be restored with *A.

Yes, one of the two daily EWR-FCO flights was a 777 in Summer 2008. The other was a 767, not sure which one.

Summer 2008, CO40/41 ran once daily with a 777 for the most part and CO42/43 operated with the 762 during peak times.

This summer, 40/41 was a 764, and 42/43 ran all summer with the 762.

Can't wait to get the 777 back to FCO next summer.

A curious note : the T7 was sent to BRU during S07, moved to FCO in S08, then back to BRU in S09 and now once again to FCO (S10).
