Hmmm... what am I missing here? On the CO website partners page it says when you book into these classes on EK:

Y, W, M, B, K, Q, L, T, V, G, H, U, E

You earn 100% EQMs.

Oh, never mind, I went back and read the asterisk copy -- and I hate it. :(

And should they join then I'm sure CO will revisit their partnerships. Until then, not so much.

I believe that's currently correct. There don't seem to be any more CO codeshares on EK out of LHR. FYI, this is far from the first airline partnership in history where you don't earn elite-qualifying points/miles.

There are two southbound flights operated by EK LHR-DXB that are codeshares. EK 8 carries CO 9898 as a code and EK 2 carries CO 9892. On the northbound flights there are three: EK7/CO9897, EK1/CO9891 and EK29/CO9899.

OK, you're right. They don't show up when you search for just LHR-DXB in the reservations systems (ExpertFlyer), which is what I did. They do show up when you are searching for connecting flights (e.g., EWR-DXB via LHR). But I imagine that as with the VS partnership, you don't actually have to be ticketed on the CO flights to earn the EQMs.

Correct that you do not have to be on a CO code to earn on those flights. And they do not appear to be published in GDSes as standalone flight (i.e. Amadeus) but the CO timetable does show them on LHR-DXB searches.

Do you have to be terminating your journey in DXB to get the CO/EK Codeshare on one of the LHR - DXB legs? When I go to continental.com and type in DAC - IAH RT, I get DAC - DXB - LHR - IAH. The only legs that indicates any milages accrual are the CO operated Houston - London legs.

I may be moving to DAC next year. I want to find out how I can earn CO miles. There are not many convenient options between DAC and IAH that don't involve spending the night somewhere along the way.

You do not have to terminate in DXB to get the miles. Co.com is not so reliable when it comes to credit from codeshare and OAL partners.

How is award availability on EK flights using CO miles in comparison to using EK only miles at the standard (non-peak) award levels?

Whether deserved or not, EK is becoming sort of notorious in some parts for not making seats on EK flights available using EK miles at standard award levels even when the cheapest regular paid seats are available in a given class of service on an EK flight. [EK is pushing hard to migrate customers toward its "peak" award travel pricing even when very cheap seats are available thru EK or other distribution channels.]

CO generally matches what EK makes available internally. It certainly wouldn't be better.
