I always buy my 7 y/o Silver daughters, Gold wifes, and my ticket seperately (as adults). That way we all recieve the booking bonus. THe few times when my I have my upgrade, and my wife recieves hers before I can list my daughter as companion, and my daughter gets her reservation left behind in coach, one of us just switches BP's with her so that she is in the same cabin with the other, and we have no problem with UM fees. I would say that if you take the seat in back and your two children sit up front and truly behave that you will most likely not have a problem.

Another option you might not have considered. Your son and daughter could switch boarding passes and he could sit in the back. Give him the $150 you otherwise would have given CO and I bet he will be happy!

I don't think his 6'1" frame would enjoy the back, while the daughter is a lot easier able to fit in the back ;)

Ditto. My 6yr old took her sisters upgrade and non-one asked or batted an eyelid.
