D'oh

Just posting because I am feeling silly. Forgot the 'no upgrades within 24 hours' for businessfirst - as result, I'm sitting in A and girlfriend in Y for trip to NRT! Let this be a lesson to y'all...:)

I hope you meant that your girlfriend is sitting in A and you are sitting in Y for your trip to Tokyo. Otherwise it'll be your ex-girlfriend sitting in Y.

Better let her sit in A and you in Y lest you have no GF when you get to NRT!

You'll be pleased to hear that you're the proud father of a thirty year argument. D'oh indeed.

Actually

How silly of me not to think of it. I know that FAs won't allow to switch seats mid-flight, but I suppose switching before flight should be OK.

Or, just blame the whole situation on the fact that you "can't leave your ticketed cabin" - blame the industry, the regulators and the terrorists.

Nah, I wouldn't mind switching at all...

"If you can't switch cabins with your gf, the terrorists have already won?" :)

You can switch mid-flight, too. Don't expect to get two meals but having one get dinner and one get breakfast and each taking 4-5 hours of sleep in the big seat shouldn't be a problem.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that this is possible - in fact, I see number of threads of "I tried to walk into F cabin and got yelled by FAs"...?

if you just try to walk in yep, expect it. If you both talk to them and let them know, you can work something out ;)

Not on the CO forum. ;)

Here is one (not so recent) thread about it: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...g-bf-seat.html. I couldn't find anything more recent but that one is pretty useful, I think.

Certainly, if you do not remedy the situation, the girlfriend will let this be a lesson to you! Enjoy your Y seat :)
