CO or DL TLV-NYC

Since my decision is leaning CO I decided to post here as I'm not allowed to cross post.
I never fly CO, so am seeking your advice. Due to timing issues, I can fly the 22:50 CO flight or the DL 00:40 departure, TLV to EWR/JFK.

I would really appreciate your opinions on which to go for, both in Y and C (the class difference on a single airline notwithstanding, more of a comparison of DL/CO Y or someone might say CO Y totally tolerable...) If the overwhelming majority says CO/DL C is stupendously worth it I would bite the fare bullet or use miles if possible.

Thanks!

I just sent some friends DL JFK-TLV and CO TLV-EWR. they were in Y and as much as they enjoyed having an empty middle seat on DL going over. Once they got back and flew CO in Y they told me as long as DL is flying the 763 or any plane w/o AVOD they prefer CO

I kinda of understand as in the past month Ive flown UA on 6 long haul flights (Intl) and miss COs AVOD which always kept me occupied

For C CO doesnt have any lie-flat seats as of yet and DL might on some plkanes but not all. So if the in-flight entertainment isnt important to you then Id go with which ever offers you better timing of their flights as wella s which works better for you JFK or EWR.

If going after 6/30 a drive down to PHL and catching US in Envoy would probably be the best way, Y is only 30" so Id skip that but would most definitely do the drive if I was going in C

Is DL putting those new seats in the 763s right now? I didn't think they were. And since that is the plane they have on the route, hoping for the true lie-flat is a bit of false hope at that point, right?

I've not flown this particular delta long-hgaul route, but I have flown other international Delta flights on the same type of plane.
Hands down, you want CO.

I have enjoyed BF on this route only a couple times, and it's nice, but I think Y on this route is very tolerable, as well.

Departure times and arriving airports are absolutely equal - looking for reliability and comfort in that order. The recommendation of US was a huge surprise - is US envoy really worth paying for???????

I should have pointed out that US has 2 types of Envoy Seating on their A-330s 6 are Envoy Sleeper with Lie-flat and 24 with 165 degrees . Pitch for the Sleepers are 90" and reg Envoy 60"

CO: 55" pitch 22" width 170 degree recline

DL: 763 60" pitch 18" width

777ER 60" pitch 21" width not Lie-flat

777LR 44" pitch 20-26" width Lie-Flat

I never priced US but it seems if $$ is no object then their Sleeper Envoy is the way to go

I heard from some who flew reg Envoy that it wasnt bad. may I suggest you check out the US forum and see what others are saying about it. You are looking for the A-330 only

nope not yet on the 763, they ahve them on their 777LR and by the end of 10 on the 777ER

I read that some days DL was supoose to use the 777 out of JFK during the peak summer period. If they will and which of the 2 types I dont have the answer to.

Those seats are more often than not broken.

I self-downgraded to "regular" C coming home from FRA because the lie-flat was in an intolerable position.

Can't speak to US Envoy from personal experience, but I think they have a product worth investigating on this route.

I found Delta's recliner 'C' seat (763 B/E) to Israel slightly more comfortable than the CO's 777 angled 'lie-flat' product. Either way, a bag under the feet and a little blue pill makes the flight go by pretty quickly. The food on DL was slightly better. The price was 50% less than CO BF, making my choice pretty simple. I've seen some pretty decent fares running on both, but I'd let that drive the decision. If 'C' is only 100% more than 'Y', might be a good value.

I think if you connect through ATL, then you can have a new lie flat seat on DL.

how did you find the reg Envoy seat and please compare it to COs BF on their 777 if you have flown in it

J to TLV

Given a choice between J to TLV on CO, DL or US I would pick CO.

On price, all three products are pricing out about the same for travel this summer, as low as about $2,400, which is a great deal.

While DL and US both have a little but more legroom, the 55" on CO is completely comfortable.

CO and DL both have better catering and IFE than US, but only CO flies the 777 with a much wider J seat that is 22" wide. The DL J seat is a brutally narrow 18.5" (only slightly wider than most Y seats), while US's Envoy seat is 19.5" wide.

Also, the seat CO uses in its 777 J cabin is a far better, more comfortable seat than the ones on DL and US (although that's obviously a matter of preference).

Finally, you can fly US Envoy sleeper class, but you need to consider the drive to and back from PHL if you live in the vicinity of NYC.

I haven't been in Envoy on the a330 in a few years. I know they refurbed the 767 fleet, but not sure if they touched the 330.

My general impression of Envoy was "meh." The working seat was "as comfortable" as the CO hard product on the 777 from a reclining comfort position. I only flew the 330 west-bound so I didn't go into a full-recline as I didn't want to sleep.

The AVOD is good, but not as many options as the 777 on CO.

Where US falls short is in the soft product. Not even close to being comparable. Meals on SQ in Y are better than Envoy. Just use the search term "tuna burrito" and you'll have a better understanding.

have you flown all 3 Carriers in Biz?

I just flew UA on their 763 IAD-FRA in Biz and with the new Lie-Flat seat and prefer it over COs BF even on the 777.

A for PHL I just drove to/from PHL for my UA PHL-IAD-FRA-TLV flight last week. Bout the only thing I Hated was the Baggage Reclaim area at IAD. All UA flights using the same 1 carousel

LH Y is AWFUL but thankfully only 3 1/2 hrs both on their 744 and A-340-600, but UAs E+ cant be beat. I can see myself repeating this in the future but will try and see if Swiss prices out better then LH. I will also be looking at US non-stop only if I can swing the Envoy seat

So Id assume those ordering a Special meal might fare better?
