Interview with CO Insider

So as some folks know, I cohost a weekly podcast with mcc235, xj47, MatthewLAX, lucky9876coins and diamedic.

This week's guest was our very own CO Insider and he answered some questions that have been asked frequently on the forum as of late. So, aside from the shameless plug, I figured folks would find it interesting.

The podcast can be found here.

Are there any major insights that you can post on this thread? I can't access podcasts from my computer.

Agreed! The upgrd crew does a great job of putting out a very informative podcast. ^

Also, thank you to CO Insider for participating and giving us some more information on the move to Star.

You should be able to save it or stream it without having to become a member.

Here is a direct link to the mp3. There is no need to sign up for anything on their site...

For those of us who are podcast/audio stream challenged (read: at work, noise is bad), is there a transcript somewhere?

quantumslip May 27, 2009 10:09 am

i had to figure this out; there's a itunes link on the page which you can click on and then you can download it from the itunes store. or you can search for their podcast page in itunes.

as a suggestion, ya'll should make this link clearer!

one thing I laughed at: the SEA-NRT cheap B-fare WAS a mistake! :D

Pretty cool to be able to put a voice to the name. Very interesting interview, learned a few things about the inner workings of CO and some of the decisions that lay ahead in the next few months.

Thanks to all. Very much enjoyed the podcast! ^

Great interviews, thanks ^ .

Some highlights (from memory, none of these are actual quotes):
  • There will be no starnet blocking, award levels will be set at a realistic level so that no blocking is needed
  • There will be access to F awards on * airlines (again hints that levels will be high)
  • SWUs are being reconsidered in light of partnership with UA, one issue is that offering them for only the highest fares (like DL) may frustrate customers but offering them on most fares (like UA) would hurt premium yields
  • Can't give any info on reciprocal agreements with UA re. upgrades on CO, E+ on UA, etc, in some cases can't even be negotiated yet, will be a graduate process after October 25.
