752 at IAH with different livery?

During descent into IAH ~1 hr ago, my flight flew past the maintenance hanger area. I saw parked in front a CO 752 (or less likely 739) with slightly different livery (some word after the usual "Continental"). It had the usual CO tail paintjob. We passed by too quickly that I couldn't have a clear look.

Has anyone else seen this aircraft, and if so, what was the word written after Continental? My curiousity drives me crazy, and I almost pulled into the maintenance area upon exiting the airport to inquire :p

Micronesia? Possibly it was in for maintenance. It wasn't a 752 if that is the case, probably a 738

If my memory serves me correctly, CO has a maintenance base in HNL, so methinks that a CO Mike plane would be better served there.....

IIRC, the CO Mike planes no longer have Micronesia on them.

I'm not sure what plane the OP saw...

ok in that case, no way it is co mike, I had only seen pics and it had it then :)

any way it was a Copa plane? They have a very similar tail and the wording doesn't say Continental....

Copa does not fly 752s.

still intrigued though.

"Lite"?

:p

It's probably the 737-900 that CO had the employees pick out the paint job from what they used in earlier years.

I thought that aircraft wouldn't be delivered for another few months (read about the voting results in Apr or May issue of CO's in-flight magazine).

We flew past too quickly for the exact details to register on my groggy brain (still booting up from awaking for morning flight). I thought it looked like 752 but didn't have good look at nose. 739 has similar length and is also equipped with winglets, so I considered that as an alternative.

Certainly, we must have a few other FTer's passing through IAH today? Anyone?

That one would be DRAMATICALLY different paint job, no mistaking it for current one :)

BTW the person that said copa has no 752, yes I know that, but they have some 738s

They also have EMB-190 aircraft. I wish CO would get some of those...

at least some EMB-170's PLEASE PLEASE They even look like baby Boeings...and put a couple First seats in them as well while you are at it ;)

JetAway May 22, 2009 4:26 pm

Did the aircraft say "United Continental"?

EWR764 May 22, 2009 4:27 pm

A Star Alliance 752 is in the works, but it is highly doubtful they'd roll it out a full 5 months prior to entering the alliance, especially as CO is still very much a member of SkyTeam.
