GA info

The Presidents Club attendants at IAH stated it would be Q4 of 2009. They seemed happy to be leaving Skyteam.

Sortof. This is not an official date by any stretch in that it has not been publicly announced. But the expectation is that at least some of the bits of the alliance membership will be available at that point.

I could have sworn CNN (or an equivalent) quoted Larry attesting to that start date. Mabye I have been reading Wikipedia too much.

I believe what was said was that SkyTeam exit was October 24. They plan to enter Star Alliance shortly thereafter. I would be willing to bet that they are shooting for October 25, but there's probably lots of issues to work out.

The quote is "promptly" following the ST departure on 24 Oct. I believe that it will actually happen in 25 Oct or that at least major portions will be in place, like lounge access for *G. Everything I've seen and heard off the record suggests that it should happen then, but it isn't official or announced that way.
