Passenger name quirk... problem?
Hi folks-
I recently booked a ticket using OP miles but flying on delta (ASA) metal. The ticket was booked through a CO agent but she gave me my delta record locator. So upon pulling up my itinerary on delta.com, I noticed that my name is listed as (using an alias) "Johnmr Smith" instead of "John Smith".. CO seems to include the "Mr." when booking the ticket which I believe is the cause of this quirk in the reservation on Delta's end. It is an int'l flight to Montreal and I'm just wondering if this issue a) is common for those who have made this type of reservation (OP miles redeemed on DL metal) and b) will cause me any problems at check-in, or at immigration/customs coming or going. Also, the ticket was booked an hour ago so I am still in in the 24 hour window should you think this should be reticketed with my proper name. Thanks to anyone who may have experienced this before or have knowledge on the matter! |
Attaching the Mr./Mrs./Ms/etc is fairly common and shouldn't present you with any issues.

They always use my FirstMiddleInitialTitle all one word so that if my name were Sara M it would look like Saramms. I've not had any problem at all domestically or internationally

I haven't had any trouble with CO. However, it has confused a few people: - A new(ish) TSA agent in BWI was insistent that it did not match my ID and it ended up being a very awkward get-your-supervisor moment. - In two cases of irregular ops rebookings, Delta agents could not get their system to reconcile my passenger name (the strange CO spelling) and my OnePass name (normal). It required an override. 99% of the time, no big deal... but it has caused me a little trouble now and then! |

That's very close to what my name looks like! ;)

Thanks for everyone's input so far. Does anybody think it is worth calling up CO or DL (which one would it be..) and getting it changed or should I just keep it like it is.

I get to be the lucky one who has a gender modifying middle initial. Add it to the end of my first name and I'm suddenly expected to be a woman - had a few folks act surprised that i'm not.
Thankfully my ID's all include my middle initial and no one has given it more then an odd glance. |
