Change fees push me over the top
I have an unused ticket worth 605.00 and want to purchase a ticket worth 350.00 with that credit. CO wants 150.00 of my money to make this change... I understand that rules are rules, but this is the end of the line for me with CO. I have been the highest status on either AA, DL or CO for the past 20 years, and Plat on CO for the last 8, but I will NEVER fly CO again.
I just returned from a business trip to Denver,,, found out my buddies dad died,, want to attend the funeral tomorrow and CO wants Me to pay 150.00 for a 350.00 ticket, even though I have over a 600.00 credit with them. DONE |
hmmm... time for a change in you FT name as well then I suppose :D

Time to start buying refundable tickets. You know the rules when you 'sign the line'
|
since you're going to get horned on the change fee anyway you should buy a B-up.
|
That is a little rash and unreasonable don’t you think?
You are not going to fly CO because they won’t waive a change fee? |

They owe me 600.00,,, I want a ticket for 300.00 and I have to PAY THEM? yes,, I am unhappy
I had some meetings change on my last week so I paid $150 to get home a day earlier. Did I like it? No. Did it cheese me that I had already paid for the ticket? Yes. But that's life. And it was still cheaper than buying a refundable ticket. |

So CO is a bit less competitive in this regard, and I think that is the OP's beef. So in the OP's situation on CO: $600 unused ticket $350 new ticket ---------------- Result $250 residual value (voucher) $150 cash needs to be paid The OP's situation on most everyone else: $600 unused ticket $350 new ticket $150 change fee ----------------- Result $100 residual value (voucher) No cash needs to be paid |

I do not know your situation, but I am guessing that the fares were close or equal. I understand( but dont like) the 150.00 fee, but have paid this many times.

Change fee ($100) can be debited from credit on jetBlue...
CO is the outlier on this one by requiring new money for the fee. |
