Adding a US Helcopter segment to an existing itinarary
 

Hi - I haven't been able to get a straight answer on this one.

What's the best way to add a US Helicopter segment to an existing itinerary?
(for full EQM's) - paid ticket.

USH tells me they can do it, the CO website (and the alphabet soup of EQM earnings tells me otherwise).

It's only a short hop, but I don't want to get cheated out of it.

It would have to be done through CO to get the CO code on it so you get the points. If you just buy a UH ticket you get no credit at all.

Change fee :) USH fee...may end up being mroe than $45 of $99 depending on class you booked originally.

I'm booked on a TSS-EWR segment later this week. Is it possible to change to JRB instead without going through ridiculous change fees, etc.? It was booked through a third party travel site as a CO codeshare segment which probably ties my hands somewhat.

I'm going to venture a guess that the USH segments are treated just like any other air segment, as they are CO-codeshares. For example, TSS-EWR-LAX is not really any different from DCA-EWR-LAX.
So if you want to make any type of change, and you're on a nonrefundable fare, then you're going to have to pay the change fee and re-issue the ticket.

I don't think adding the segment is the best thing to do. Rather, buying a ticket on USH through CO should get you the credit and CO the revenue. Everyone wins. But call CO and check if you have problems booking on-line. They will waive the telephone fee if you can't book something on-line.

Does CO sell them without a connecting flight on CO metal as part of the itinerary? Many code-share arrangements require a connecting flight.

CO's UH codeshares can only be booked in connection with a CO flight.

I'm interested in taking advantage of the $45 offer to add a flight on USH. Unfortunately, I need to book all my travel through my corporate travel website and attempting to book starting at TSS rather than EWR drives the price up much more than $45.

Is it possible to book my flight from EWR (either H or A class, haven't figured out which I'll be taking) on my corporate site and then call CO to add the USH segment on for $45?

This was not my experience this summer. I had booked an 'R' class ticket, no free UH for that fare bucket at that time, and needed a o/w UH flight to EWR. Adding the segment to my existing reservation was not possible, but CO sold me the segment separately and I received credit for it.

I tried to do that today with a flight that I booked nearly a week ago. They told me I could only do it if I paid a $150 change fee, so I just booked it directly through USH. (I also tried booking just JRB-EWR round-trip online through Continental's website, but it wouldn't let me.)

From what I gathered, it seems like all you have to do is give them your OnePass number when you check in, and you'll get your miles. I could be wrong, though.

If you ever see your miles that is. Sounds like it is difficult to get your mileage credit for a USH flight and never happens automatically (aka you have to send in the physical boarding pass).

Officially, miles are only credited for flights ticketed on a CO flight number. Details are here. If you're depending on the miles to make a jump in status level I'd have a backup plan in place.
