Is this supervisor right?

I'm a little frustrated right now.

I'm booked on CO 1114 (DCA-EWR) connecting to CO 54 tonight (EWR-CDG).

As you all know, CO 1114 is notorious for NEVER getting to Newark on time, if at all.

The flight is ALREADY posting a 10 minute delay - I called to ask to be moved to an earlier DCA-EWR flight to help ensure I make my connection and they refused (without me paying), saying that a 10 minute delay won't cause a misconnect yet.

The supervisor didn't listen to my argument that THIS IS CO 1114!! With EWR ATC, I would bet $1000 that this 10 minute delay will not remain a 10 minute delay.

I know I shouldn't have booked this tight of a connection, I wasn't thinking. But out of principle, as a Gold who flies almost 75k a year, I am very reluctant to pay the $50 fee for confirming me on the earlier flight. I can't believe they charge elites this (but that's a whole different subject)

What should I do?

Call back and try again. Maybe a new agent will jsut help you out. If not, wait until sift change and hope for a different supervisor. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

Technically the supervisor is right. If you go to the airport you'll have a much better chance of getting it done since the agents there know what is going on more specifically with that flight and will likely make the change for you.

But technically the supe is correct.

And next time don't book that connection. ;)

Or don't fly CO. Every other U.S. airline offers free same-day standby or same-day confirmed for an Elite such as yourself.

I think this is the right answer but if you go to the airport early the agents know the situation and more than likely will help you.

As of now the dca-ewr is scheduled to be 37 minutes late for arrival. Hopefully the OP has gotten on an earlier flt or 1114 will not be much later than scheduled. Next time....All Aboard...Amtrak.

No, 1114 today is early. Already landed, estimated to arrive gate 11 minutes early.

Actually he won. It did not remain 10 minutes late. ;)

Take it from someone who did dozens of panic flights on afternoons between DCA and EWR - unless you get a good Elite desk agent who will make the switch, go to the airport!

The agents there know their flights are habitually late, and will often begin moving customers over to earlier flights ahead of time. I've even gone to the airport earlier to check on my flight and been handed a boarding pass for the flight leaving right away and told to run for it!

But, of course you don't take your own advise there do you?

To the OP: head to the airport early, with any luck your flight will be showing late before the earlier flight departs.

I would allow more time for the connection in the future,,if you did, this would be a non-issue..:D

How so? UA is now my primary carrier.

Instead of dividing up the $1000, how about we educate people on meaningful thread titles??
