CO Plat travling on Emirates HELP

I will be traveling on Emirates from JFK to DUX on A380 later this month. As CO Platinum/SkyTeam Elite Plus, do I have any additional access to Emirates services such as priority checkin, lounge access, etc? Already gave them my onepass to earn miles.

Can I access SkyTeam lounges in JFK or DUX if I am traveling on Emirates?

Anything else a first time Emirates traveler should know?

Thanks for your help.

I assume you mean that you are flying to DXB (Dubai). You don't really get much of anything in terms of benefits as a CO elite flying on EK. And for the route you've chosen you don't even get EQMs. You will get RDMs and that's about it.

No lounge access, either, as you are not on a SkyTeam itinerary.

I can answer the question about Skyteam lounge access...no :) You have to be flying on a Skyteam airline in order to be able to enter a Skyteam lounge. Since EK (Emirates) is not part of Skyteam you can't access any Skyteam lounge at JFK.

I'm sure others will chime in to answer your other questions.

BTW, you only get the base RDM earnings, not bonus RDMs for your status.

There are only a few routes where you can get EQM's w/Emirates. That being said, you will have a much better experience on Emirates than on Continental. Video on demand, better meals, more room between the rows. You can also use miles to get an upgrade on Emirates if you choose, if you can get it. Continental needs to make a request for the seat. Their First class has 15" monitors and flat beds and their Business class has slightly smaller screens and nice seats. Even coach has better size screens than CO BF. Food is a lot better too.

BTW, in Dubai, make sure that you have a high level MasterCard (world card) if you want to get into one of the lounges at the airport. There is a lounge that will allow you access w/that card regardless of what airline you fly.

Really? To the best of my knowledge OP miles cannot be used to upgrade a ticket on EK metal.

Well, if you read the CO and Emirates sites you will find that it is possible. You must call CO to ask them to put the request in.

I have read the CO web page. Several time. I just read it again, in fact.

Continental Airlines upgrade rewards include rewards on Northwest, KLM (excluding KL/NW coded PrivatAir flights operated on behalf of KLM*) and Copa on applicable routes.
EK is not listed there.

Perhaps you can take your grumpy pants off this afternoon and enlighten me as to where you found the EK upgrade information.

EK Upgrade? Take out your credit card and pay for it.

Nice airline though, though as far as premium carriers go, I prefer SQ / CX.
I found their biz seats to be annoying, particularly the at seat bar.

There is huge variability in EK seats, even on the same aircraft type. The new J seats on the A380, the 777-200LR, A345 and some of the 777-300ERs is great. Others are pretty bad.

There is no way to use CO miles to upgrade on EK.

And there is one route where you can earn CO EQMs and bonus miles, on one of the LGW-DXB flights. That's it - no other flights in the EK system.

There are two return flights DXB-LGW so there are actually three total flights where EQMs are earned. But close enough.

Correct - forgot about that one :)

If you have money to burn you can pay for VIP services at DXB (about $300 I think). Check the EK board.
