actually that is not a great idea. First, you can cancel w/ 24hrs on a paid ticket only if it is from co.com. If you bought it over the phone you are out of luck (you can still put an int. on hold over the phone).
second, even if you were able to cancel. the upgrade seats would go back into the pool and someone else in that time could grab them. third, if you are granted a upgrade and then cancel the ticket you loose the upgrade fee (the fee is nonrefundable). |

Since your reservation is still within the 24 hour period, could you cancel it and then rebook it on Co.com so you get the full 100% EQMs? You could then upgrade it with miles but I do not know if you could do this on-line or whether you would have to call in. I am assuming that you would still be able to do the deal after cancellation, and you should make sure that if you do call in for the upgrade that they do not take away your on-line reservation status. BTW, you may have to pay a booking fee for using the phone (but I suspect that you already did )

One clarification, COFan, our new 24-hour Flexible Booking Policy does allow a complete refund within 24 hours for any ticket booked directly with Continental via continental.com or Continental Reservations.
I missed this announcement thanks for the update ^ |
