Does OnePass offer Original Routing Credit?

Does OnePass offer Original Routing Credit?

Other airlines offer original routing credit (ORC) if you are put onto another airline's flights due to various circumstances. In such a circumstance you can get mileage credits (for both the miles/bonus miles and EQMs - elite qualifying miles) on both the airline of your original paid itinerary and the new one, due to the trip interruption manifest (TIM) (as used by Continental) or voluntary / involuntary flight reroute (terms used by most airlines).

In my case, CO gave me a TIM and put me on DL flights from Europe to the US.
DL was not able to provide me a true receipt, just a trip itinerary and DL resvn code. I made a photo of the TIM, to keep as evidence, as one of the DL flights required me to hand in this paper coupon (looks like an old fashioned plane ticket, except for saying TIM). It has both a TIM and my original ticket serial numbers on it; all CO 005....numbers.

I gave DL my OnePass number for the flights I was rerouted on by CO and in 1-2 days the mileage credits/bonuses and 150% of the mileage towards EQM (as rebooking code was Y) posted to my my CO OnePass account. I would only have gotten 100% on the orig CO ticket based on non H Y coach fare.
So far, so good.

I called CO via the Platinum number and the OnePass agent said CO will NOT give both OnePass original routing credit and credit for the DL flights that I was rerouted to. I got cutoff trying to reach a supervisor. Called back and the next OnePass person said she was a supervisor. She said that even if UA and AA do this (I think DL will as well), CO OP does not give ORC in this circumstance.

I think the issue might be getting OP credits for both CO and partner flights which are at the same time. She did not indicate that if CO had rerouted to a non partner airline, that this would be an issue (i.e. ORC would be provided).

Did I mess up by giving DL my OP number?
Should CO offer ORC credit, in addition to the credits for the airline I was rerouted to (rerouting done by CO)?
If no, how can I get the miles posted to DL Skymiles, since the boarding passes clearly state my CO OP number and Skyteam Elite Status?

Thanx

Welcome to FlyerTalk!!

Since you already received CO credits for the flight, albeit via Delta, I wouldn't expect to receive anything more than that. If the routing was shorter (e.g. EWR-SEA-ANC instead of EWR-IAH-ANC) you'd have a reason to get the additional credit. Otherwise you've already received credit on your OP account for the one ticket number and I would not expect any more.

If they had rerouted you onto a non-SkyTeam partner you probably would've been able to get credit on them and the CO credit, but you won't get double credit on CO.

If you are involuntarily re-accommodated on a non-OnePass airline partner flight, you may request mileage credit for your original flight itinerary. Send a written request for mileage credit to the OnePass Service Center. Explain the circumstances of the flight, and include a copy of your original passenger receipt as well as the boarding pass from the flight flown.

Exceptions include flights cancelled by uncontrollable circumstances (e.g., work stoppage or weather). In these situations members will not earn miles.

Though it says you only receive mileage for the new flight, there are tales on here of people getting credit for the original flight. This is important at times if the original flight would have yielded more RDM, EQM, or EQP. You still only get credit for one of the flights... no double-dipping when they put you on a partner airline.

As others have said - you won't be able to double-dip on CO and DL (or CO twice). I have been able to request original routing credit when an involuntary change has decreased my mileage earnings, even on CO or a partner (like when they did me a favor and rebooked a mileage run into half the segments). But I couldn't get credit for both - just whichever routing I requested.

It sounds like you still came out ahead in mileage (though you probably took a drop in EQP, flying on Delta). If that's true, I'd be fairly satisfied. They got you home and the new flights boosted your miles! Even on other airlines, ORC is often discretionary and often difficult to obtain.

Thanx for the ORC replies

Thank you for your replies. In this situation I am a noobie.

In my particular case, seeing that the plane was going to full of screaming babies and that the gate agents were double checking that these were all lap infants, I expected a long flight from hell. (BTW, I am great with kids and calmed one crying 10 month old down with funny faces and dangling keys... Not bad for single guy.) I asked if BF was available, as I occasionally luck into complimentary upgrades as a long time Plat. Elite. BF was full. So I asked half heartedly if they were looking for volunteers to be bumped. In the end, I was switched to DL. CO did a TIM for me, etc.

This was my first experience with ORC and reroute airline credits of an alliance partner, outside of Star Alliance. I guess each airline program has its own rules, and these rules may vary over the years and with one's luck while talking to a CSR. Live and learn....

Thanx again :)

Double Dip

Silly you. You should have given your DL number to the DL crew. Then later asked CO for the original miles.

Yes I have double dipped several times, but on TWO different airlines.

It doesn't seem likely than any airline is going to let you double dip into the same mileage program as you had hoped for.

Additionally, some airlines won't give you ORC on a bump. They believe that the compensation you are getting for the bump is your full compensation. I'm pretty sure on the Delta board that some members negotiate for ORC when taking a bump.

In any case, you got away from the romper room flight, got your bump compensation, and got 50% more miles than expected.

All in all, I'd say you did rather well for yourself! ^
