OnePass Dining Program to End?

Apologies if this has been covered already.

I just received my regular spam-like email advertising all the crappy restaurants in my neighborhood that participate in the Rewards network, and on the right side, in a sidebar, there was this little note:

PROGRAM ENDING.

The OnePass Dining program, operated by Rewards Network, will end on October 31, 2008. Members will continue to earn OnePass miles for qualified dines through that date. Dines occurring on November 1st or after will no longer receive OnePass Dining benefits.
More here.

I think this was discussed a few weeks ago.

I like how the email I received was advertising restaurants offering bonus miles in my neighborhood, it's like they are going out with a bang.

Are they any good? Most of the ones around me are crap, and the ones offering the bonus miles are far away and even worse, if one were to believe the reviews...

If you're talking about NYC restaurants, there have been some very good places on RN. It's a pity that Artisanal and Picholine have left. Borgo Antico used to be in the program too, and that was excellent.

At the moment, NY doesn't seem to have a large number of wonderful RN places. Can anyone correct me, if I'm wrong? It's always nice to hear about good experiences and recommendations.

Truth be told, I rarely ate at the restaurants offering bonus miles, I figured they must be bad to have to throw 10 miles per dollar at you to eat there, and I was mostly right. I have found some really great restaurants though with this program. Now that this program is ending I have stated to use the United dining program and it's mostly the same restaurant.

WE have EXCELLENT restaurants in the program in New haven and I have joined the Mileage Plus Dining Program.

Much seems to depend on the area...we have some decent ones around here but when I have looked in areas where I was traveling, the choices were less than appetizing (in more ways than one).

Will OnePass remain dining program-less?

Another round of emails went out today. I wonder if Rewards Network is ending, or just OnePass's affiliation with it. As I've watched FF dining program affiliations change in the past, I can't imagine that CO will remain dining program-less for long. If CO is merely shifting, it would be nice if the transition were seamless - e.g., no re-upping required - as I think I remember Mileage Plus's to be a few years ago. I find the programs useful for relatively effortlessly and cheaply keeping a foot in the door with my dormant FF accounts.

Mileage Rewards isn't going anywhere. I jumped on with Alaska's program recently - they're offering a promotion for VIP's with ten miles per dollar spent through September 30. I am unhappy that, for whatever reason, Mileage Rewards and One Pass are "splitting the sheets." Over the years, I've accumulated well over 50,000 One Pass miles through the dining program. There are several restaurants that are program members in the nearby vicinity that are terrific. When I'm visiting another city, I almost always try to eat at a participating restaurant. I discovered one that was so good in San Francisco that I continue to patronize it even though its no longer in the program.
