Gotta love ewr connections
Just sitting in tpa parked waiting for ewr to start operations again.
Sometimes I wonder if the added mqm's are worth it. I should have just taken the direct nw flight. I know I will miss my connection in ewr to msp. I need to check but I think nw has a flight an hour or so later then mine (co370). I will see if I can get on nw metal as the co is even later and a commuter plane.
What I do find rather interesting is how rude the people on this plane are. Granted it has been 10 years since I moved from NYC but I never realized how big of an ... people can be.
Before we left the gate the let everyone know we were going to be parked and offered them the later flight. Then when we park the play a movie (no movie is setup for this flight normaly). What do a couple people do? They ..... about the movie selection.
It amazes me how they can go beyond the norm and still get attitude from pax.

I feel your pain
... speaking as a New Yorker, and Continental flyer, I spend a lot of time in EWR. Lot of traffic that only gets worse with summer thunderstorms. FlightStats.com says that EWR has had ground stops this morning and is averaging almost three-hour delays right now.

The storm that blew through here this morning is one of the worst I've seen in a while. We got a LOT of rain in a VERY short amount of time, and plenty of lightning to go with it.
As for folks complaining about the movie selection, there are plenty of people with whom you'll never win. I gave up on trying to please that group a long time ago, and I'm a happier person for it.

I could not see the city anymore from my office, it got really dark
and looking towards EWR it was even darker .

At this point I am just hoping that we get to ewr with at least enough time for me to make a flight that will get me to msp tonight

The rain started again , and visibility is very poor again ,
I saw a plane landing a few minutes ago, but now there is a big cloud where i normally see planes flying down to EWR .

Been sitting on the ground in EWR for 2hrs now on a flight to SFO - the storm that came through earlier really was spectacluar - one of the worst I've seen in a while. Hopefully things start to clear up shortly... been a long day already!

if i am a passenger on a plane and a fellow passenger doesn't like the movie selection, why would another random passenger try to please them?

Oh, and another t-storm cell passed over EWR about 45 minutes ago. This one wasn't as bad in Manhattan, but I would imagine that a ground stop was in play thanks to lightning shutting down the ramps.
I'll echo the suggestion to find another routing if you want to be in MSP tonight. Getting there via EWR would seem to be a losing battle.

I am now chilling at the ewr marriott hotel. True to form ewr canned the rest of the flights so I will be flying out tomorrow morning.
Let's hope this flight makes it out. Upside is at least the snacks in the marriott lounge were good.
My return trip on thur I have thru iah.

I think I might win/lose the worst travel experience because of this weather...
I am attempting to go BOS-AUS...
Attempt 1: Yesterday, at noon JetBlue BOS-JFK-AUS. Board the B6 flight an hour late. Informed that we will be delayed more on board. 2 hours pass. Right when our new take off time was supposed to happen, pilot says flight will be delayed by 2 extra hours. No way to make connection.
Attempt 2: Fly on B6 BOS-MCO (yes, MCO) sleep at the Sheraton hotel and take a cheap CO flight this morning. Since I am now displaced, flight is sold out, put on standby to MCO. Meanwhile I book hotel arrangements and CO flight. Everyone shows up for the flight, stranded at BOS at 11:00pm after 11 hours at Logan. Hotel booking in MCO is non-refundable (lost $120).
---over night at Back Bay Hilton for $179 (+taxes, internet = $200)---
Attempt 3: CO flight 1195 through EWR and into AUS on 806. Check in for 1195, massive delays and put on 1129 to EWR. Since I like to track my inbounds, I notice 1122 take off from EWR, loop Westchester, and on landing pattern to EWR. Before even CO is aware of it, I ask to be switched to 1177 whose inbound is actually on its way on a straight line. Turns out I take the ONLY open seat on 1177 before problem is realized (thank God) and 1129 pax find out of this.
Attempt 4: 1177 takes off at 18:30. Lands at EWR and I am currently at the PC. AUS flight 806 is late by an hour. Sipping glass of wine #4.
Edited to add: B6 was sold out today, which is why I didn't rebook. I paid $200 for the B6 flight, CO charged me $425. Net loss due to weather: $535 + 2 days' time.

Whoa no rain of any kind yet I PITY those flying into or out of EWR tonight! How bad is it its BAD! CO #56 EWR-CDG departs daily at 6:15pm is now set for a 9:12pm departure! thats an Intl flight which CO tries under all circumstances to get out 1-2-3. This has been rescheduled more times then I have fingers so far today.
If they cant get the Intls out how will they get any Domestic out. (I didnt check to see if the plane itself was late in coming in, but co.com lists the delay due to ATC)
