pda.continental.com seat error

Flight 647 shows a seat map with 20 first class seats while the upgrade standby list shows 18 as capacity. Which is correct the seatmap or capacity list?

Looks like CO is holding back two seats. CO Insider mentioned this, I believe...I'll look for the post.

This happens a lot on the 777. There are 50 seats, but it will list only 48 total seats

It's a 739. Older 739s have 18 FC seats while newly delivered 739ERs have 20FCs. They're assigning a 20-seater for tomorrow's 647, but they're only booking 18 in case of substitution.

FlyOA2 is correct about the situation with the 772. Same reason. They will only book 48, but the aircraft assigned may have 48 or 50 seats.

Here's the post in which CO Insider discusses blocked seats in FC:

Link

Sometimes when Economy Class on a flight is booked over capacity and First Class is not, we'll withdraw some First Class inventory from sale to reduce the chances of an oversale. This only happens in rare occasions, like on a date when our bookings are exceptionally high. We'll be sure to update our "blocked seats" FAQ with this information.
Since tomorrow's CO647 is not close to being overbooked, I think that the other explanation (possible aircraft swap) makes more sense in this case.
